Dress dilemma

JayKay47, 29 June, 2012 at 12:16 Posted on Planning 0 7

Hello everyone!

I'm not getting married till 31.05.14 but I *think* I've found a dress I love, it's in the sale and a complete bargain, but somethings niggling at me saying that it's too early and that something else might catch my eye.

If I did get it I could probably sell it on if I changed my mind, but it's a one-off and I have no idea what designer it is by or anything about it.

Basically I'm wondering if I'm completely mad to be considering getting a dress so far in advance? Have any fellow 2014ers chosen yet?

Please help!!!

Jx

I'm a 2013er and I bought my dress in February, 19 months before my wedding!

I just knew that if I didn't have that one, I would be gutted!

It depends how you feel about it. If you know 100% that it's the one you want, then go for it. If you just really like it (as opposed to being gut-wrenchingly in love with it), then I would wait.

I would wait if I were you - I have been engaged for 18 months, and only chose my dress about a month ago. It is a bit purchase, and what you like and don't like could change a lot in two years.

I would wait - I bought my wedding with 14 months to go and now everytime I go into the bridal shop to try my dress/sort suits etc I see other dresses which i would have loved to try; when i got mine there werent any tea length dresses or dresses with sleeves, which was what I wanted originally, and if I had just waited a couple of months I would have been spoilt for choice!

I have bought mine and we get married in April 2014.

I absolutely, 150% know it is perfect. I look at other dresses and they just arent very "me" and I feel like a princess when I put my dress on.

This is a tuff one. I'm a 2014 bride and I've seen a dress I love. It is a 2013 collection so I'm tempted to go an try it on. We got engaged in feb 2012 an I've seen about 3 dresses that I love.

Like you said if you do buy you can try and sell if you change your mind.....however I've said to my mum I could end up with 2 dresses for the day

Good luck I know how you feel

We are getting married May 7th 2014 and I saw a dress online 2 months ago which was just perfect and bought it straight away.

If its perfect, I would get it before its snapped up. Worst case scenario: if you see another dress you prefer later, you can sell this one.

Plus, buying things early works for our budget so we can spread the cost over 2 years...we've also put a deposit down for the reception venue.

    Good luck!
