Dress fittings...what's the norm?

StephW, 13 January, 2010 at 15:10 Posted on Planning 0 5

I have finally found my dress ? I had so many things that i wanted my dress to have that I thought i'd need a dress maker, which would have cost a fortune! I know that this dress has nearly everything I want and the rest could be altered to make it oerfect but the only thing is it will need sent back to the factory in Dublin to do it. I live in N.I. so that isn't too bad the dress shop do it, but they mentioned that it will be a while beofre we send it off because they will do the alterations at the same time they do the fittings. The dress will be sent in July ish...and the wedding is in October....surely I would need another fitting before then?

Sorry I just have no idea what the norm is....

My dress shop won't do fittings till a month before at the earliest. the lady even told me she 's know girls to lose an inch in the last couple of weeks due to nerves, stress etc.

Yea my fittings dont start till 6 weeks before, but maybe they need to do your first one early so they have the time to send off and get it altered and then another one when its back and a few weeks before the wedding.

My shop won't do fittings until a month before, the dresses don't come in before that. I've asked for mine to come in early as i live over 100 miles away from shop and getting married abroad so leaving before wedding. My weight hasn't changed in years so i doubt my body will change in a week!
