dress for morning after the wedding......

MrsB88, 14 October, 2014 at 19:18 Posted on Planning 0 27

Will be having breakfast with all my immediate family & the bridal party the morning after the wedding. I want to wear a white/Ivory dress, I want to drag out being a bride as long as possible haha! What do you think of this dress? I'd wear it with flat sandals.

It's nice but is it a bit much for breakfast? Mind you, the morning after ours we'll be checking out of the hotel and driving 250 miles home, so I plan to be wearing my skanky old denim shorts and biker boots. So I'm possibly not the best person to comment...

I agree with ID it's a lovely dress but I think it's a bit dressy for breakfast.

    I think it's lovely. I'd wear it.

OH and I jokingly said we'd get up for breakfast in our wedding gear, full dress and veil and all- it appears he was actually serious though!

It is quite dressy but to be honest if you want to then go for it. Perhaps tone it down a little with a nice cardigan, I think your right to go with flats.

I personally think it's lovely. Definitely with sandals ☺️

I'm wearing a white convertiable dress the morning after at our breakfast meal with a few of our family and friends.

I think I will just be using it as an excuse to buy something new for the Sunday. Not especially "bridal", but just an excuse to have something new (like I really need an excuse!). Of course, this will have to include shoes and potentially a new bag too ?

In all seriousness, I think it is nice to be able to continue being a bride the following day. We will be having breakfast with our guests, then a bit of time in the spa at the hotel, before heading to the cemetry to lay flowers for our parents, and then off to the airport hotel for dinner and an early night ahead of an early flight the following day. So, that Sunday is still very much "wedding territory" for us, and a very important and definitely emotional day. Mind you, H2B isn't a t-shirt sort of guy - he wears shirts all the time, even with jeans, so we would never be too "casual" in any event. I would be unlikely to turn up to breakfast in Jeans, and I don't do Maxi dresses on account of the fact that I am short, so just a nice flippy type summer dress will be the order of the day I think.

That said, though, the most important thing will be the smile that won't leave your face - people may not even notice what you are wearing as your face will be what they are focusing on!

I think the dress is gorgeous and I love the idea of dragging out 'I am the bride' for as long as possible Smiley winking

But for me personally I would put this dress in an evening category. (I actually shortlisted this dress in a different colour recently for a wedding reception!)

I love the idea of a 'wifey' or something along the lines of 'The New Mrs. Smith' top/jumper which is cute but I am quite a dressy person in general so would probably go for a white summery dress the next morning (it's the type of thing I usually wear anyway)

Whatever you will feel comfortable in the next day is ultimately the most important thing, if you know you will feel comfortable in this dress and not overdressed then go for it!! Smiley smile

Oh my days, I looked like a bag of sh1te at breakfast on the morning after. Dragging the wedding day out for as long as we could, we didn't collapse into bed until 4:30am, and as I had forgotten my overnight bag, I had to crawl downstairs to breakfast in a pair of my friends joggies, a borrowed hoody, no bra (my fress was boned), my WEDDING SHOES (Ivory, silk, very high and ornate) and my hair looking like I had been dragged through a hedge backward.

IN fact, I felt like I HAD been dragged through a hedge backward. And forward again and then backwards. My new husband took one look at his gorgeous new wife and said ...

    WTF have I done?

    Lol

Love the idea (and love those jumpers - it's not to late to get a Wifey one 4 years later??) but that dress is a bit too eveningy for me.

I took a range of white/ivory dresses on honeymoon so I was a 'bride' every day Smiley smile

I'll be honest, I don't get these shirts and whatever with stuff like Wife written on them. Can someone explain the point? I mean, everyone you're with knows you are, and presumably you'll be wearing a wedding ring...I dunno, maybe I'm just being a killjoy?

Maybe a bit Smiley winking nah, i think thats fair enough, people like and dislike different things. it be very boring if we all dressed the same!

for me, there is no 'point', i just like them and theought it was cute. It's not like a label for other people in case everyone forgets what we've just done the day before. I also really like the font style and the grey of that t-shirt. If it had been a white hoody with something like 'WIFEY' on it in block capitals I wouldnt have thought ooo i like that...but it might have made me have a look for something else like it.

I dont otherwise wear logo clothing and wont be buying dressing gowns with 'bride to be' or other such things on them, but I just likes them t-shirts!

ETA not that the bride to be dressing gowns and just married flip flops etc arent a nice bit of fun either

Wow i love the jumper! Seriously want. I have too many jumpers but i'd wear this as much as my others for normal home slouch wear, not only for the next morning. The item price is fine but i can't justify the $25 shipping! I've never looked at Etsy before, not sure i understand what it is lol. Surely a UK seller does similar?

I agree the dress is a bit much - perhaps a shorter version if you want a dress - but for me the morning after is more relaxed and for that I love the wifey stuff - got to get me one of those and will see if OH wants a hubby t-shirt Smiley smile

As we got married abroad, we had a brunch in a separate venue on the day after the wedding. I would have needed a nice dress for it anyway, so I bought a lacy white mini dress in white. It was a sort of 60s style, maybe something I'd wear for a nice BBQ or something at home. I wore it with coloured wedges so I wasn't too bridal.

So I really like the idea, but I think the long dress is a bit much for breakfast.

Purplecake, there are a few on Etsy that are based in the uk - https://www.etsy.com/uk/search?q=wifey+&locationQuery=2635167&page=1 but not the slouchy jumper style. you could always do it yourself with printable transfer paper?

I've decided to make my own. Getting plain t-shirts off ebay - £1.85 each! Then getting printable transfer paper - about £1 a sheet, then I will create my own text/graphic for each t-shirt. Reckon I can do one for all the wedding party total cost will be about £25 for 7. The boys and girls can wear theirs the day of the wedding before they get dressed if they want - hubby and me, will wear ours the day after

I'm doing that for shirst for us to wear when we're getting ready - some good sources for texts/graphics on etsy that work out about 50p/image and then you acn print the image on to the transfer paper yourself Smiley smile
