dress help!

EmmaRose33, 5 February, 2012 at 19:47 Posted on Planning 0 14

I've been dress shopping today and fell in love with the first one I tried on.

It was in Berkertex Bride and it was by Nicole Jackson. The sales assistant said it was called 'Jude'. I really love ot but it was far too expensive, and I am desperate to find a picture just to compare others to.

My sister looked on the website earlier and couldn't see it, now that designer's section on the site won't load.

Does anyone know which dress I am talking about? Or where I could get a picture?

I just tried to find it for you hun but haven't had much luck. I've been warned not to try on anything out of my price range for this exact reason, you will compare every dress to the one you just can't afford [:'(]

Describe it for us and I'll see if I can find something...I quite like a challenge and my OH is watching Top Gear so I've got plenty of time ?

I know I shouldn't have. My bridesmaid chose the shop because she thought it was a bit cheaper than some others. I didn't even ask the price until after I tried it on.

It's got a deep v-neck with lace straps, and quite and exagerrated fishtail. It has either beading or diamate beading detail to be honest I can't remember which!

    I lovvvvve it! [:'(]

The dress shop should have a very good seamstress who can add lace straps xx

I hope some of these are helpful.

I've been told by every dress shop I've been in that as long as the dress is fitted to you properly they can add lace straps that aren't structurally needed but will look pretty

Honeysparkle that's also called Jude isn't it? It's very similar to that but with more of a fishtail and a thicker sash/wasitband. Also similar to the first one UKChloeT posted but with thinner straps.

Have you thought about finding a dressmaker to recreate it for you? Depending on how complicated the design is, and how much detail you want, it can end up being quite a bit more affordable than buying a dress in a shop. I'm getting mine for £550, which I know is still somewhat pricey, but I love lace gowns and all the ones I saw in the shops were 3x that price at the very least!

Otherwise, if you buy a gown, it can always be altered to have a lace overlay on the bodice and straps to create a v-neck. I've seen people get a plain satin gown and then have a lace jacket-type thing to wear over it that overs the entire dress in a beautiful sheer lace overlay. Gorgeous, but maybe not the right thing to go with a fishtail gown.

Try searching on the hitched wedding dress search, there's quite a few on there but for some reason my computer won't let me post a link to it.

It's a really beautiful style!! Out of interest was the fishtail style easy to walk in?

I didn't find any of them easy to walk in TBH! But it looked so lovely I don't mind.

You're all being really helpful, thank you.

I thought it would be really expensive to have it made, but it might not be! I like the idea of buying it plain and having a lace overlay.

UKChloeT that last one you posted was a very close match. H2B is sat next to me so cannot look properly atm.

I really want to make sure I can move okay in my dress because I love to dance and I plan on hitting the dancefloor alot in the evening! My OH is a really good dancer aswell and we love to bust a move! tee hee hee!

It's hard to see in the little picture, but honestly I think it's gorgeous. If you're not opposed to a used dress, try consignment shops. Or go to a regular store and if you find the dress, search for it on used wedding dresses sites. Thanks for the users to sharing the wonderful gowns.
