Dress help * flash*

charlottelucy, 2 March, 2011 at 13:18 Posted on Planning 0 21

I brought my dress last October so very early I know but I love it and it was a complete bargain but now Im worrying what if its a bit too plain? I know I can accessorize - I was thinking a pearly/diamante jewlerry. Also do I need a hoop with this dress? When I tried loads on at the dress shop I didnt try hoops on with any so I really dont know which types of dresses you are meant to at all!

Hey, no need to worry i think your dress is fab!

you could always have some bling in your hair, to be honest i dont think its plain at all, it has a lot of detailing to the waist which automatically makes you look extra slim on the waist!

and i think a hoop or petticoat would give it more volume and stop you from standing on it etc...
(im not sure what the difference is! lol)

To be honest, I think that most wedding dresses are too blingy! I think yours looks elegant and not too plain at all (there is detailing on it).

As mentioned, if you hace a dress like yours, you can glam up with some beautiful jewellery!

I think it is a gorgeous dress and definitely not too plain as there is the detail under the bust and then the folding detail. With regards to hoops, I think you will only know if it needs one by trying them but I wouldn't go with too big a hoop as I think it might look at bit odd, does it even need one, does it have a built in petticoat? What did the assistant in the shop say, how did it look when you tried it on without a hoop?

With regards to jewellery, as it has a sweetheart neck line, I would recommending something with a drop or a Y shaped necklace. It would be good to see a closer picture of the beaded detail, are they crystals and pearls? Take a look at my site to see if there is anything you like -

Your dress is beautiful. The neckline is gorgeous and it isn't plain at all. As you say, you can get some gorgeous pieces of jewellery or a real statement hair piece without it competing with loads of bling on your dress.

If you need any helap with jewellery and hair accessories, please feel free to give me a shout.

Thanks everyone, i think coz its been so long since i tried it on and brought it im having little wobbles. I am going to make an appointment to try it on again next month if i can and ill take some photos of me in it. The women in the shop didnt even mention hoops and i think it looked fine without but will take some photos and see what you all think.

    Kebo - I love the 3rd necklace!

Thanks, I love the 3rd one too, it is really tactile, not too blingy and is surprisingly wearable after the day...I have a bride who now wears hers on a long chain ball chain and gets lots of compliments. I have it in a larger style but would recommend the one I posted with your dress.

    Here is how it looks:-

I think your dress is beautiful, I don't think you would want to go too big with a hoop. Do you mind if I ask who it's by?

Thank you Gem, I dont think I will bother with a hoop at all, I might ask next time I go to the shop if I can try one on just to see how it looks.

    Hi Charlotte

You may remember i complemented your dress a few weeks/months back on the dress flash thread!? I have been trying dresses on lately (not come across this exact one - or even the Mon Cheri brand) but its definitely the style that suits me most. Love the waist detail and pleating - finding it very flattering. Can you remember the style number/name so i can have a quick search for local stockists?! I really love it!

I love it, its beautiful. It is similar in plain-ness/size to mine and my shop said i didnt need a hop really, tho i think it all depends on how easy it is to walk in. i was having similar worries to you, but i'm sure we will both look lovely, hehe! Honestly, your dress is lovely and you will look great in it.

Thanks Charlotte - i have emailed a few suppliers. Have just looked on their website too and close up it's very similar to a dress I am trying on on Sat for the 2nd time (Ellis 11226) The Ellis dress has a black band (although i'd probably play safe and go for it in ivory) but the actually cut of the dress is very similar! Think one of these 2 could be 'the dress' for me!!

I love your dress I wouldn't change it at all. I don't think its plain as you have lovely ruching and a really pretty diamante detailing below your bustline which I'd try to bring out with a gorgeous but delicate jewellry and the most striking of all headband :-)

I'm having pearl and diamante drop earrings so I'm not bothering with a necklace but getting a statement headband/side tiara instead. I also think a gorgeous but delicate bracelet would set it all off, I wouldn't go overboard just delicate jewellery to go with the dress and an awesome side headband.

I bet you'll find something lovely from either of these sites
