dress sizes

chicken82, 21 July, 2008 at 23:19 Posted on Planning 0 7

i tried on a maggie sottero the other day which fitted well, and i was astounded to hear it was a 10! I havent fitted in a 10 for years (i dieted a lot last year to get to a 12) - my waist was practicly non existent laced up in it, yet when i tried on a different designer, i was told i would prob need a 16. Do all the designers differ that much??

    Sadly the do -

I'm a size 16 now and when I was looking I was a 20 and when I ordered I was an 18 - they measure the biggest bit of you and then fit that against the matrix. they had to order me a size 26 which is so ridiculous as I felt fat and horrid all day - when I calmed down I just decided the label would be coming out and it would be my size once it was all taken in!!

I wish that they would make the sizes more generous so you felt smaller than what you were - if that makes sense!!

    They've ordered me a 20 in a Maggie and I'm a 16! Boooooo - but hey who cares - no-one is seeing the label!

I'm currently wearing a size 18-20 in normal clothes and my dress is a 24.

I've heard of dresses needing ordering in bigger sizes but never smaller.

When I got measured I was a size 10 (I've grown since then, not put weight on just grown ?) and my biggest part (my hips) measured a 16! Now go figure that out after looking at this picture! I don't think I am a 16 anyway and considering I was wearing size 10 trousers I was not best pleased! Maggie dresses are done in American sizes I think.

If you're a 16 PG then so am I!! I wear size 10-12 and you're about the same size if not smaller than me! The 12s tend to be tops as I have broad shoulders and big back muscles from climbing!!
