DRESS STRESS!!

mrslowndes2b, 9 September, 2009 at 13:52 Posted on Planning 0 13

EKK Having a major stress!!!

Was going to wait until about 4 months b4 to try on dresses for 2 reasons:

1) I want to "tone up" before I go try dresses on and hopefully drop 2 maybe 3 dress sizes

2) Ive seen a fab angelo alfred dress style 1465 which I really want but

After speaking to fellow hitchers I didnt realise how much time is needed to order a dress etc THIS IS NOT GOOD!!! lol Im on a diet and exercising so should I go try dresses on now (but then what do I do if I order a dress and loose quite abut of weight before the big day) or do I wait until Feb/March time which will then only be about 5 months b4.

I have booked to try some dresses on later this week, but I know its gonna bum me out coz Im not very confident being this size when im usually afew sizes smaller (weight gain due to recent hip operation)

EKK what to do!!! Help, ok I will clam down soon!!! breath in breath out, breath in breath out

I think if it was me I would order my dress as soon as possible and then speak to the shop about leaving the fittings as late as possible if you're wanting to tone up first. I'm saying this because I ordered my dress in January and it didn't arrive in the shop until May. I then had about 5 fittings after that.

I completely understand what you're saying about trying them on when you want to be a few sizes smaller - it's so hard to visualise what the dress will look like in the right size, smaller, etc.

Yeah, I'm with December on this one - go try some on asap and you can discuss what size to order with the shop.

    Good luck!!!

When I ordered my dress a couple of weeks ago the assistant advised that it could take up to 6 months for the dress to be made and delivered. If you choose and order a dress now you could either order a size or 2 smaller than you are now (if you can be confident of losing the weight you want to) or, if there will not be too much difference in size, your dress could be altered to fit nearer the time (depending on the style).

I also think that you can pay extra for a 'speedy delivery' if you wanted to leave it until 5 months before. Perhaps speak to the shop assistants when you go shopping and see what they recommend?

    Good luck! x

I would get into a dress shop quickly and discuss this with them. When i was trying on dresses the lady advised me they need 6 - 9 months to get the dress and have them fitted, it normally takes 5-6 months to get the dress made and then the rest of the time for fittings.

Once you are in there you will have an idea of what kind of syle suits you, and it may be that you are mid sizes at the moment so they can order a size down for you and then there will be plenty of room to loose weight and have it fitted as near to the wedding as possible. There are also advantages at looking at how the dress does up, and the style, if its a big dress at the bottom then that size doesnt really matter, and if its a corset top with a tie up back as opposed to button up, if your thinner than expected you can always pull it in tighter, or loosen it if you've not lost quite so much.

A bridal salon should really be able to ease your stress and help offer advice though!

I'd shop now and get it altered! Thoses alteration ladies can work wonders. Tell the dress shop women your problems about you want to lose weight and they'll advise you what to do. x

I'm in the same situation, i hate the way I am now and definitely want to drop a few dress sizes before the day. I used to be a size 8 and am now a 12 sometimes a 14. I hated trying on dresses because I think if your not happy with your body your not going to like yourself in any dress.

So I don't know what I'm going to do. Can't really help you much but just thought I'd let you know that i feel your pain! lol

    Hiya!!

You are not alone on that front!!

Ive been trying on dresses recently and was told to go at your biggest size and then its easier to alter the dress to make it smaller than it is to make it bigger!

I am currently going to 'fat club' to lose a couple of stone - I would feel much more confident on the day!

So, my advice, get searching for your dress, it will give you more incentive to lose the weight, believe me!

    Hi

Im getting married at the Ramada Hotel in Bewdley its a really nice hotel and my friend works there which is good coz she knows all the inside info!! Bewdley is about 15 miles out of worcester Id say?? my parents and friends live in stourport which is just outside of worcester!!

I have a plan re dress: Im going to start looking at dresses etc but Ive been given a realistic goal of loosing 2 stone b4 xmas so after then I wont have a huge amount to loose so will have a better guess as to actual size in Jan - plus Jan sales and its still 7 months b4 the big day so Im thinking thats my plan of action!!

Stress over...............now Ive just gotta deal with fat club lol
