Dress wobble!

Bets2015, 14 April, 2014 at 11:08 Posted on Planning 0 8

I'm not getting married until August next year but I couldn't resist going to try wedding dresses on at the end of last year. I never went with the intention of ordering my dress but I fell in love with a Maggie Sottero gown and panicked that my dress shop would not have it in by the time I got married and it was chosen as dress of the month at the time so meant it had a slight discount. I thought about it for a while but couldn't get the dress out of my head so I went for it. However, over the last couple of weeks I've been worrying if I've done the right thing and I keep seeing pictures of other brides in their wonderful dresses and it's causing lots of dress wobbles! I'm considering contacting my dress shop and letting them know how I feel and asking if I can go in and try it on again but I'm worried they are going to think I'm a nuisance as I have already been in with a few ladies from my family to show them a few weeks after I ordered. I know dress shops are super busy with the summer season coming up and I don't want to be a nag. Do you think they will see me as that?! I'm such a worrier!!

    Hi Bets2015!

Your dress shop shouldn't see you as a nuisance! You have after all ordered a dress from them! However, you don't necessarily have to go into your dress shop to try it on again. You could also see if other places stock the dress and just try it on there and pretend you are interested in that particular dress.

I've that a couple of times! The shop I ordered my dress from, didn't actually have it in stock, but I had tried it on in another shop and the service was terrible so I ordered it from the nice shop. What I do keep doing is going to the shop that has the dress just so that I can keep trying it on! I have no need to keep seeing it as I know it's the one, but I love it so much I want to wear it all the time! I just make sure I take different people with me so that it looks like I'm showing different people before I make the decision! x

Go back and try it on! Surely the staff there would understand amd it probably happens a lot more than u think!! If u make an appointment that is your time and noone elses, so u wont be a nuisance. You dont HAVE to bring anyone with you. Go put your mind at rest :-)

Get a photo of yourself in your dress and every time you have a wobble, take a look at that photo and it will remind you how special you felt in it but don't worry about being a nuisance - your dress shop don't want to lose you as a customer to someone else so should go all out to keep you happy x

Thanks for all the advice ladies! Smiley smile I can't take a photograph of me in the dress, my shop does not allow photographs because of copyright issues. I keep looking at the photograph of the model but it's just not the same! I think I'll call my shop and see how it goes x

I think it's normal for every bride it have dress wobbles...I've had my fair share! But every time I try my dress on I remember how much I love it and how amazing I feel in it! So go back to the shop and try it on again...if only to reassure yourself!

I've messaged the shop but they werent as understanding as I would have hoped. She didn't say no or say it would be a problem but she wasn't very friendly on the messages back stating that she needs to check the status of my order and the diary tomorrow first. Oh dear. I feared they might react like this. I guess of every bride they dealt with wanted to go back and constantly try their dress on they wouldn't get anywhere so I can understand it's a little frustrating for the but then again I am giving them a hell of a lot of money for one item! x

I asked for a photo in the dress I was keen on and was advised, for copyright reasons, I couldn't take *until* I'd ordered/paid a deposit. Once I'd done this, the owner of the shop took my picture in the dress..... can you go back and ask for this?

    Best of luck!

It happened to me too. Bigtime!! The shop were lovely about it. I tried it on again and couldnt get the smile off my face. I deleted all the pics that had caused the wobble and the manager of the shop took some new ones. There are so ms y gorgeous dresses out there and its a huge decision. Wobbles are very very common and a good shop will do all they can to reassure you. If they are stroppy just tell them you are losing weight and need to see where you want to focus on. Good luck x
