Dress wobbles...

bridgetvictoria, 21 October, 2009 at 21:24 Posted on Planning 0 10

Ok... I know there's nothing I can do but just wondering if anyone else feels the same.

Basically I hated dress shopping, was physically ill and didn't enjoy it at all. All the shops I went to were lovely and the people were great, my family were really nice (apart from my Mum liking some horrid dresses!!!) but I didn't like it and didn't see many dress I liked at all.

In the end picked a dress i'd seen in a magazine and had loved (Ian Stuart, premier). Looked the best on of any i'd tried.

But the more I think about it the more i'm going off it. I've been back to try it on again and it didn't do much for me.

Can't do anything was just wondering if i'm the only one...

And will stop feeling sorrry for myself soon I promise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh no, I'm so sorry you feel like that. I'm not sure what to suggest really. Is there anything in particular you do not like about it - perhaps the shop could change something, ie put sleeves on or different neckline etc? I'm sure you look lovely - do you have any pictures of you in it?

When you get it, try it on with all your bits and pieces, you'll soon change your mind.

(And then we want a pic pls).

    Is this the one?

Its gorgeous! Absolutely gorgeous. I'm sure once its yours it will all be fine. I have my first dress fitting on Saturday and I haven't seen it since I ordered it and the thought keeps going through my head 'what if I dont like it?' but I'm trying to stay positive. I completely understand your wobbles - its natural. Have you got my headdress/shoes sorted yet?

That's the one. Having a mantilla veil with half up half down hair (or wedding hair as my boyfriend now calls it everytime I wear it like that) with real flowers kind os threaded through it. Have very curly hair! At the reception having a tiara thing. not got shoes yet. But am having a pair of white sketchers for the evening as it's a barn dance.

Skechers are a great idea - I'm going to be taking my Uggs with me. I'm definitely built for comfort - not glamour!

Your dress is stunning! of course its all about how it makes you feel, but if there is nothing you can do about it now - don't panic, wait for your proper fitting and then if its still not right try and pinpoint if there is anything you'd like to modify, I don't know what else to suggest really.

Im not an expert in this as i've only tried one dress on up to now but when you try it on again put on the veil, tiara, jewellrey, shoes, make up and anything else weddingy you can think of.

When I tried a dress on it just didn't feel right until my friend plonked a tiara and veil on my head and it somehow made a difference to the whole dress.

Hope it goes well for you and the dress is lovely by the way.

Thats exactly what I was thinking Kate. Its sometimes hard to picture the complete look when you've just got your dress on and your hair & make-up isn't done and you don't have any of your accessories on.

Good luck and hope you get on ok. I'm sure when you try it again it will be absolutely fine but if not remember that there is always time to change your mind - you wouldn't be the first bride that bought a dress and ended up buying another

From what I've seen on Hitched so far it is completely normal to have dress wobbles and the majority of brides do get them at some point - remember even Zippy got them!

I think when you actually try it on again you will fall in love with it all over again, but it might be a good idea to take other weddingy accessories to try on with it, as the others said. From my dress shopping experience it's crazy how a veil and tiara can transform the whole look!

Plus, your dress is absolutely beautiful - honestly! Let us know how you get on.

Thanks Girls. Think another part of it is that I really stretched my budget on it so am now having to make allowences until it's paid off so it's feeling more of a drain than an asset. Maybe once January comes and the final payment is done I'll like it more again!!
