Dress wobbles

MrsC2b14, 22 March, 2013 at 09:47 Posted on Planning 0 13

I'm getting married next September 2014 and found what I thought was my dream dress in October so ordered it. It is beautiful and I love it when I look at pictures of it but after sneakily asking my hb what type of dresses he likes all then ones he likes are slinky or fitted etc and he said he doesn't like big dresses..... My dress is big big big so what do I do? I did try some fitted ones on but wasn't keen although I quite liked fitted lace ones but I do still love my dress just worried he won't and that's massive for me as I want him to look at me and think I look perfect

Ok I have a same (ish) problem. I am yet to buy my dress but the whole time my H2B has said he likes fitted dresses where as I like big. Anyway I tried on fitted ones and like them. He then poinbted to a huge dress in a mag the other day and said wow thats gorgeous - I now have't got a clue haha!

In all honesty whatever you wear you will look stunning, as long as you feel comfortable you will glow when you walk down that aisle. i fyou go with something more fitted that you're not keen on that will really show. Plus who cares, when else can we dress like princesses :-) x

You have to feel happy in the dress. I understand you want him to love it too, but I bet if he saw you in it he'd change his mind. I think it is so different for a man to see his wife to be in a wedding dress, then just pictures and empty dresses.

Don't worry!!!! I'm sure your dress will look absolutely stunning on you, that is the reason why you choose it! My dress is completely different from what my OH thinks I will have. We were talking the other day and he said he imagines a slim strapless dress quite plain but my dress is lace with a high neckline, straps and a big full skirt but do you know what? When my mum saw it the first thing she said was that my OH would love it. I quite like the idea of doing something unexpected and surprising him on the day!!!! Dress wobbles are normal, why don't you go and try the sample on again with either your mum or BM's their for moral support and I'm sure you will love it again! x

Hes a man. He wont have a clue what your dress looks like, or what he likes. He is possibly telling you what he likes based on what he thinks you will go for so as not to worry you.

Mine diddnt realize wedding dresses could be anything other than strapless or white.

If I asked him now, he wouldn't be able to tell me what my dress was like other than "it was short wasn't it?"

To men, most wedding dresses look like wedding dresses. They wouldn't be able to tell you the difference between them. Chill out.

Thanks it does make me feel like a princess and I'm not an overly emotional person but I almost cried when I tried it on. I think I'm just generally struggling, my mum died 5yrs ago and think all the wedding planning is making it a bit raw.

Your all right though he will love it on the day :-)

I'm sorry to hear that about your mum. You will look amazing and he will love it no matter what style it is!

This is a hideous, sexist generalisation.

    And probably true ?

    Stick with your first instinct.

I completely agree with this! My OH has often commented on how he doesn't like 'short' (ie. tea length) dresses- I showed him a picture the day before of the dress I ended up actually (unintentionally) getting and his response was "Yuk, that's horrible". It didn't look fantastic on the model in the pic because she didn't have the boobs / hips for it (plus she was pulling a stupid face)- but it was BY FAR the best dress I tried on, so I bought it! It did look completely different in the flesh. All of the long, flowy dresses made me feel middle-aged whereas this one made me feel like a bouncy fairy! ?

Anyway, it's not just about him, it's about YOU and how YOU feel. If your dress makes you feel confident and happy, job done.

    Ha!

slight confession- I cant tell the difference between many wedding dresses either...ivory, strapless, small train, few sparkles...I reckon I should be a man.

After our wedding I asked my H what my dress was like. He said (after much thought) "errr.... Sort of cream. And plain."

Trust me, the majority of men have NO IDEA about dresses nor ever will. They are just enormously grateful you turned up at all. And quite right too!

Mine didn't even realise my dress was short until the drinks reception.

To avoid a random slightly sexist remark regarding the entire male population, lets focus here our attentions on MY H2B. I BARELY TRUST HIM TO DRESS HIMSELF, let alone me, and let alone on my wedding day. (yes, MY wedding day) He still calls anything that isn't trousers "a dress".

The point is that you feel beautiful. Then you will make any outfit you choose beautiful. And I am not just being fluffy - its true.

As long as you love the dress, your smile will say it all and he will be happy your happy. You will look stunning.

Loving the stories about the husbands not noticing, this is so my H2B!
