Dress wobbles

Italybride14, 21 May, 2013 at 10:56 Posted on Planning 0 22

Now I always knew I'd be the type of person who is likely to have wobbles! I fully admit that I like to have the best etc. I tried on 50+ dresses before choosing my dress. In fact, it was one of the first I tried!

So, I've ordered Sincerity 3730. I love the Sabrina neckline and its half the reason I fell in love! I always knew I wanted straps. When you dismiss strapless, it really limits your choice! Anyway, i stumbled upon the sophia tolli site yesterday and have fallen in love with a dress called wiress! Now what do I do?! Should I try it on? I think I prefer the shape as its so bridal! Plus I know it'll suit me. As it stands ill lose £420.

Let's try to beat Jo with this:

    Sincerity 3730

    Sophia Tolli Wiress

You can do your own flashes from now on....

    I prefer the Sincerity one.

Much MUCH prefer the first. The second is a bit...don't know, silly? Too OTT for me. With apols to anyone who has this dress. ?

Thank you! I think I need to hear that to put me off. I almost need to forget about it until January when I have my fitting!

Thank you, I'm just panicking! It is a gorgeous dress. I think I need to wait for my fitting in January and take a bridesmaid with me so they can give me positive vibes! Plus, make sure I've done my hair/makeup!

FWIW I prefer the first one too! Much classier.

I am with you on the whole dress wobble thing; I'm going through a bit of one at the moment. I think it is simply because it feels like so long since I bought the bloody thing (end January) and my first fitting isn't due until probably mid-July- I just can't remember what it looked like on! Stupid me for not taking a pic at the time...it doesn't help that I can't find a decent picture of it anywhere- all the pics are the wrong version.

My wobbles reached a head today when I finally found a picture of it on a shop dummy and it looked really wide and dumpy (again, short length version so prob didn't help) so now I'm worried that the middle won't be fitted in enough, despite all the sweat, blood and tears I've invested in shaving inches off my waist over the past 9 months! *breathes into brown paper bag*

I'm almost tempted to email the bridal shop and ask if they can take a pic of it on a dummy for me so I can be reassured I've not made a terrible decision! ?

Stick with the first dress. It looks lush.

Are you niggling about the price differential?

Thank you it helps to know its quite common! I've taken photos of me in mine but I'm not sure if it helps. I don't want to add them to this thread as they'll come up on a google search for the sincerity dress but they're on a thread I had previously called planning so far.

i think you're right and its the long wait along with wanting to look perfect on the day!

No it actually doesn't bother me about the price! I was amazed my favourite was so reasonably priced!

I'm going against the grain here... But honestly the second dress is a much nicer dress. The fit will also be much more flattering and I think it looks very elegant.

I'm actually looking at something in a similar style so yeah a slightly biased view!

The 2nd one looks like a cheap imitation of the 1st. The 1st one is amazing!

Presumably that depends on your shape?

Well I'm assuming the OP is only looking at dresses suitable to her shape.... She said herself she felt it would look good on her!

personally I would have posted the pics with out highlighting which dress was actually mine in order to get more honest opinions...

I did give an honest opinion. The first is lovely, the second is a bit eurotrash. ?

The first is definitely more classic, the second seems a bit 'much' for want of a better word?

I've had a look of the dresses in more detail (because I'm nosey) and I personally think the first one has a nicer neckline, much nicer back, the lace is nicer and I prefer the shape too. I'm not keen on the lace of the 2nd one.

Lots of opinions, thank you everyone. Good thinking about not saying which is mine but I've already posted a lot on here about the love I have for my dress so wouldn't be hard to find out! Plus, I trust everyone to be honest. It's so much easier to be honest on here rather than in real life!

if its relevant, I'm 5'11 size 10-12. Having a lived a life of clothes not fitting, wedding dress shopping is a whole different ball game. I tried on every style and I have to say, they all suited me really as they're made for tall girls! I'm beginning to agree with what majority of you are saying and think maybe the skirt is too severe?

    Thank you everyone!

I'm not a fan of the second one at all to be honest. Something about those skirts puts me off. The first is beautiful and much more timeless.

I agree with the vast majority that the first dress is definitely the most beautiful imho. Much more elegant and timeless. I tried on a dress which was a similiar shape to the second one (as part of the initial 'try one on in every style phase' of dress shopping) and it was near enough impossible to walk in it due to the extreme dropped waist and fit.
