Dress Wobbles :(

*CrazyCatLady*, 5 February, 2015 at 14:48 Posted on Planning 0 12

I'm getting married in 5 weeks and starting to have dress wobbles Smiley sad I bought my dress in March last year, so 12 months in advance. I went to three shops all in the same day and ended up buying the dress from the first shop I went to.

I really didn't enjoy the buying experience as I felt very overwhelmed and felt pressure to decide on the day because my mum and sister are so busy and took a whole day out to come with me.

Don't get me wrong, I do like the dress, but I only really tried on one style and now worried that I should have tried on more. I am pear shaped so I'm hoping the shape I picked ('princess' - corset top, full skirt) is the right one but I'm getting serious dress envy of every single dress I see.

Is this normal?

I know there's nothing I can do now but I feel sad thinking I might have made the wrong choice. Smiley sad

Do you have a picture you can flash?

I'm sure it's just because it's been so long. When was the last time you tried it on?

It's totally normal to have a dress wobble at some point! I don't think there's a lady on here that hasn't had one.

Why don't you post a pic and we can all reassure you how wonderful it is?!

Breathe! dress envy and dress wobbles are very very normal. You seem to have chosen the right style of dress for your shape so I'm sure you will look wonderful.

I find I have serious envy where people are able to wear dresses that I just can't. For example, my MoH and I spotted a lovely Monsoon dress that would have been gorgeous for the BM and MoH. We loved loved loved it. She came across it when out shoppig and tried it on. She is teeny and lovely, and the model looked amazing in it - my lovely lovely daughter took a pic and sent it - she looked awful. So yes, while we seriously wanted the dress it just looked awful. Envy for those who can wear it.

Sadly you can't chnage that, but believe me, there are people out there that will wish they could look amazing in a Princess dress - cough cough - me for one!

I don't have a picture of me in it, but here is the dress:

The strap thing is removable and I don't really like it on me, so probably won't wear that bit. I think it's the skirt I'm worried about. I like that it isn't straight down, but I feel like the 'swooshy' bit should go lower down maybe on one side if that makes sense?

Your dress is stunning! Quite unusual, I love it! Everyone has dress wobbles and worries don't worry. Why don't you try it on again to remind yourself how much you love it x

Your dress is stunning! A proper princess dress - if I wore anything like this it would make me look enormous! I am so jealous!

I totally get what you mean about the swooshy bit, is there anything your seamstress can do with it? Definitely try it on again so you can remind yourself how much you love it!

Is that the alfred angelo Belle? I love it! Totally normal to have dress worries. I'm having one now. I went to see my dress again today as I'm deciding whether or not to have sleeves added. It's a huge decision. I feel like I rushed into buying the first big dress I tried on.x

Wow, that is a total knock out of a dress! Don't worry, the day you have your final fitting it'll all fall into place. I think it's totally normal to have a bit of a panic, I was so worried before I tried mine on, but fell in love with it all over again when I tried it on. You'll be fine, it really is gorgeous

As everyone has said, dress wobbles are completely normal, even at this late stage. Your dress is beautiful and once it's fitted to you, you will feel amazing ?

Your dress is beautiful!! I can't imagine that anyone could not suit such a beautiful dress!

Like everyone else has said, we've all at some point coveted another Hitcher's dress! I'm sure when you put it on on the day you will remember exactly how it made you feel and why you chose it.

Yes it is! Our reception is in a castle so I do feel it 'fits' the theme. But I wish maybe I'd tried on something a little more subtle.

I'll be having a fitting in about 2 weeks so hopefully I'll fall in love with it all over again. Glad it's normal to have these doubts! xx

I think that dress is absolutely fabulous. Definitely flattering for a pear shape. As soon as you get it on and fitted, you will be instantly reminded why you chose it in the first place. It's one thing liking other people's dresses but only a select few will suit and flatter you.
