Dress Wobbles WWYD? *flashes*

birdboo, 11 October, 2011 at 14:46 Posted on Planning 0 19

I've always promised myself a green wedding dress and thought that I had already found the one which was mostly based on the price rather than looking for something amazing. I still feel amazing in it but I've always thought it was a bit shiny (every photo I've seen of it with a flash all I see is reflection) which has buged me ever since trying it on. In my excitement everyone has seen the dress and knows what it looks like, so there will be no big surprise on the day.

After a day dress on etsy I've come across another dress which is far nearer to the dream dress in my head and will be custom made just for me. It's at the top end of what I imagined paying for my dress. I can't get it out of my head either.

I've not bought anything so far because I always thought that it would be the off the rack cheaper one so there was no need to panic and buy it now. The only condition is that I get to wear a certain pair of irregular choice shoes.

I love the VoH dresses but I actually prefer the Etsy one - a bit more audrey hepburn?

But it's obviously for you to decide. is it just the sheen of the material that is bothering you? if money is an issue I can't imagine you'd have any trouble selling the one you have on on Ebay.

I really, really like the Etsy dress. Fabulous shape and so elegant. Not a fan of the shoes though, think they'd spoil the look.

I have the original dress in black. I like both, but I wouldn't wear those shoes with it, you'll look like a Christmas tree/ Mrs Claus. Shoes like that will only really go with a red, black or white dress IMHO.

I agree with CB, prefer the Etsy dress, but not with red shoes. Get cool shoes by all means, but ones that go!

I really like the etsy dress, though both are lovely. Just looks more expensive (prob cos it is!) Can't see the pic of the shoes but I love irregular choice shoes so can imagine they are gorgeous!

I prefer the etsy dress too. The material looks nicer and the shape looks more classy.

I like the colour of the Etsy dress but the style of the original so I am no help. Where did you get the original one from - I am considering a similar style (but different colour. The shoes rock!

Love the Etsy dress, very elegant shape and looks better quality. Sorry but I really don't think the shoes will go. Green peep toe heel with a slight platform sole, in keeping with the 50's vintage look would be lovely!

    Love the first dress!

That's a Dig for Victory dress isn't it. My daughter thought about having one of those for her bridesmaids. DFV has fantastic reviews and her stuff looks stunning. When I emailed her she was very helpful too.

The Etsy dress is the one for me I think- I prefer the colour myself.

Love the shoes but just not sure with that dress IMO- with a tea length dress your shoes are really on show which I know sounds like a really obvious thing to say but it is a really big part of the look- I cant imagine what flowers or veil etc would go with that?

**obvs you may not have flowers or a veil in which case tell me to jog on**

Thank you lovely ladies. I have just emailed Dig for Victory to start a custom order and this time I'm going to see if I can get away with people thinking I'm still buying the Vivien of Holloway for as long as possible. ?

The shoes were a gift from OH and have a bit of a story to them that's important to us. Plus I really love the mix of colours it's me in a teacup. I have no veil or real flowers to worry about. All our flowers are made from felt and we have a colour scheme that involves 7 colours ?

I like both dresses and I think the shoes are great too, all you need is a button bouquet of red and green buttons and you will be good to go....?
