Dresses and H2B's

AutumnRose, 24 June, 2009 at 13:11 Posted on Planning 0 16

Is anyone else really struggling to stop themselves showing their H2B's pictures of their dress??? Maybe is sounds odd but the thing is since i found my dress i have had an over whelming urge to show it to him and see what he thinks!!!

It's a weird feeling because the one person who's opinion on the dress i most care about is him, but he's the one person who isn't supposed to see it in advance!!!

I know he'll love whatever i wear on the day and men aren't as interested in such things as dresses anyway but i'm worried i won't be able to go another year keeping it to myself!!! Bit of an odd post i know but i'm just wondering if i'm a bit mad or if anyone else has had the same thoughts??!!??!!

I'm gona be exactly the same. i shoed him a pic of 1 i tried on and loved but it was in a pile of cut outs of mags so was asking his opinion on all of them. bit of a sneaky way of doing it but meant i knew what he thought.

part of me is tempted to show him it cos i really value his opinion.......and i'm terrible at keeping secrets

    Talking of dresses and H2B's...

He was helping my mum sort her macbook out on saturday and he had to take everything off and reinstall it.

I was sitting next to him when it came to putting the pictures back on and it didn't even occur to me that OH would see each picture going through...then my dress pics with me in them went past...I went white as a sheet and signalled to mum to meet in the hall.

Where upon I blubbed like a fool moaning that he'd seen my dress (it probably didn't even register in his boy-mind) and my mum felt so guilty!

he hasn't said anything since so I think we got away with it...but blimey the pressure!

    <sorry to crash>

I am desperate to show him mine, he knows it is strapless he knows that the middle/bottom half does not fit me. But that is it!

As you say he is the one whos opinion you want the most but the one you can not gain!

I've been trying hard not to give anything away, although he is desperate to know what it's like. I doubt he'll see a picture though, I've not found a single picture of it on the internet or in any magazines. I just hope I don't see it on 'Don't tell the bride' or something and then in my excitement blurt out that it's 'my' dress lol.

I don't want him to see it. When he's looked through magazines, he's picked out dresses that I know would never suit my body shape in a million years. I know my dress flatters my shape so I want him to see it on me, not a picture of the model in it.

Yes, I totally feel the same.

I've got till April next year to go and I don't know how I'm going to manage it without letting something major slip.

Already I've let the style of dress slip- well, I explained the different shapes of wedding dresses and he kinda guessed which one I went for and I didn't deny it. I've been designing invitations and I've gone for a flower theme cos there are scattered flowers on my dress - I've had to stop myself a couple of times before saying "cos my dress has scattered flowers......"!!!!

Really don't think I'll make it. Good luck to you all!!!!!

Thats exactly what Zippy did... she had to turn it off and missed the rest of it...!

I've not told anyone about my dress but was talking to OH the other day about first dance and said I may have to hold it up a little cos of the train but he put his fingers in his ears saying "you're telling me too much about your dress, I'm not supposed to know remember!" ️

I'm trying hard- my MIL2B was visiting this weekend, and bought a sample of material she is making my veil out of- it was in a brown paper bag and H2B was trying to chase me around the house to see what wedding related material it was- thankfully MIL2B told him off hahaha?

My h2b hasn't seen a photo but he did help me choose it!

I'm really not into any traditions so didn't see the point sticking to that one. Saying that, while he helped choose he didn't see me try it on. He's also forgotten what it looks like so guess there was no point in him coming dress shopping in the first place! ?

    xx

I am the world's worst secret keeper so I know I'll say something soon. But luckily (in this instance anyway), H2B also has the world's worst memory so we make a good team really. I let things slip and he forgets them! ?

Plus, I'm just really excited about seeing his reaction - actually, I'm just bloody excited about the whole thing - and I want to show him!

It's gonna kill me! I do keep making him flick through wedding mags and make him tell me what he likes and what he doesn't. It's so hard not to tell him. He keeps pointing out ones he thinks i'll have.. light weight, slinky and straight... He's so wrong. Not sure how we'll go on trying to get it on a plane without him noticing!.. Hmm... need to think about that one... x

Mrs Spink to be - you might not be able to take your dress on the plane with you unless it can fit in something 'hand luggage' size, which judging by your post isn't likely? Not many (if any) airlines make exceptions for wedding dresses these days so its worth checking out what your particular airline says about such things.... it may have to go in the hold with everything else...

I didn't have any desire to show Mr SP my dress at all - I don't think he even knew it wasn't white til we got to Zanzibar and I unpacked it and you could clearly see a 'cerise hue' thru' the dress cover ... once it eventually arrived after our luggage got 'held up' in Edinburgh for 5 days! .... Infact the only people who saw my dress in advance were my mum, MIL and my best mate. No one else.

And yes, I did honestly think I'd be getting married in someones borrowed sarong and Mr SP in his swimmers. I did pack the rings in my hand luggage tho' so we could have coped!.. the rings and the groom are the most inportant things I guess!

My H2B has seen my dress, both on model and on me in a photo.

I'm not superstitious in the slightest! I asked him if he wanted to see it and he said yes, so he saw it.
