Im guna have to check out this Ellis Bridal! I have a few ideas but havent tried anything on so may not look any good, I Like jenny packham and amanda wakeley also clair pettibone as they are mainly slim fitting empire lines which I think will suit me, but I also quite like these mermaid style dresses as they may make me curvier (im kinda straight up and down!) there are so many to choose from and cant decide wether to go for modern grecian style or a more vintage lacy design! just wanted to get a few more ideas of where to look and possibly spend less than 2k if i can.

I have just realised that I can get on Hitched at work! Oh no! I will never get anything done now!

Anyway...I saw my dress (Benjamin Roberts 966) on his website when I first got engaged and absolutely fell in love with it! In the shop it was about £500 over my budget and OH was not going to budge on that one so I kinda accepted that it wasnt to be until.........

I was telling one of my BM's about said dress and I googled it so I could show her a pic and an advert on Preloved came up (I had never heard of the site at this point!) and someone in Leeds was selling one in my size for £800. So to cut a long story short, I went to her house and tried it on and loved it even more than in the pics and got it for £750!!!! It is still in some shops for nearly £1500!

It is a little bit tight so i need to lose a few pounds, but we're talking like 4/5 before the big day!

Apologies for the long post but it gets me excited talking about my dress!

OP have you decided on a particular style yet?

I'm also straight up and down, and have ended up with an empire line sort of grecian style bias cut dress. Sounds as though your budget's considerably more than mine was though as mine was from Monsoon and was only £200.

I reckon it's a good style on our shape though.

i love jenny peckham & amanda wakeley dresses - they are stunning. my best friend is getting married next may and she is very similar body shape to you, and she ended up with a mermaid style dress and i couldnt believe the change in her shape, it was amazing. not sure of the designer though!

i fell in love with my dress as immediately felt comfortable in it. im big busted and it was the 1st dress that i felt i could do cartwheels in and not fall out of!

good luck with your dress shopping! x

Mine is Ronald Joyce and I got it from a shop in Southend called Fiori, I can recommend them. I would also recommend House of Couture in Hornchurch, Bellissima in South Woodham Ferrers, Special Occasions in Stanford-le-Hope and Diane Silverosa in Rayleigh .I went to lots of shops - these were the best IMO.

Mine is Essense of Australia. I bought it from a shop in Bexleyheath Bellamore but i prob wouldn't recommend the shop itself given the service i've had from them since they got my money!!!

    I ❤️ my dress x

If you're going to that one the one in Elm Park (name escapes me, but there's only one!) are ok too. the ladies in the Hornchurch one are very experienced, if a little scatty - bit of a cross between Kim & Aggy and Trinny & Susannah!

Interesting thread - Tory I was thinking of trying that Bexleyheath one (I live in Dartford) but may think twice now if the service wasn't great after you paid them. Did you try the one in Bexley village at all? I've heard it's supposed to be a good one but have no idea!

Hillier - what sort of style is your dress, if you don't mind me asking? I'm a fellow big busted gal and am wondering what style to go for - last thing I want is to be hoisting up my dress every minute, not a classy look for a bride!

Going to start booking appointments soon, it is quite nerve wracking actually! Everything about the wedding has felt pretty normal up until now, I think as soon as I try on a wedding dress and look at myself it will start to all seem pretty real!
