We have two, one for the adults and one for the kids.

Adults A glass of Bucks Fizz or orange juice on arrival; a glass of house red or white wine and a top up; a glass of sparkling wine for the toasts.

Kids A glass of fruit punch on arrival; a glass of orange juice with the meal; a glass of sparkling lemonade for the toast.

In addition, every table will have a bottle of sparkling water and jugs of iced still water.

Can you provide your own booze at your venue? We can't (not even if we pay corkage!) so we had to have their drinks package or have no drinks for toasts, etc.. If you can, might be cheaper.

We went for the cheapest package in the end (£10.95pp) as we figured that, with the exception of FIL2B and one usher who are both wine buffs, no one would be able to tell the difference between that and the next one up! Those two, being part of the wedding party, will understand the need for cost-cutting. And just because it's house wine doesn't mean it isn't nice!

We aren't having a sit down meal - 4pm ceremony, then a hot buffet then evening do so I can't see where we would fit one in!

That's what I was going to do, because even this was something painful like £7.50 ph but now MiL is interfering and telling us we have to pay for wine for everyone (i hate being told what I 'have' to do), so I don't know how this will end up...

we're not having a 'package' as such. Just giving all guests a drink of bucks fizz on arrival, a class of cava for the toast and 2 rounds of wine and then the hotel just charge us for however many bottles have been used.

I've estimated that you can get about 5 glasses a bottle so we'll be buying 40 bottles so £360 in total working out to £7 a head.

We're also having a 4pm ceremony, then after the photos we're having a drinks reception which is when we'll do the sppeches/toasts.

So we'll provide 1 drink after the ceremony, 1 drink when they go into the reception, then champagne and canapes before the speeches.

Can't really remember but I think we've got

    • arrival drinks (pimms, bucks fizz and champagne or orange juice)
    • 1/2 bottle of red/white wine for the meal
    • glass of champagne for toast
    • orange juice, apple juice, lemonade or coke for kids (1 on arrival and 1 for the meal)

Ours isn't a separate package but is included in the 'total' package.

    • champagne on arrival. Just one glass I think
    • half a bottle of wine per person with the meal
    • champagne for toasts

We're going to be supplementing this as well with some money behind the bar at the welcome drinks if anyone fancies a pint and in the evening as well. I think my dad is quite keen to pay for some extra wine on the tables as well because our lot are quite big boozers and will have done half a bottle each before the main course arrives ?

We've gone all DIY and saved a fortune. The corkage at the venue was £10 a bottle (OMG!) but we neociated down to £10 per 3 litre box. Went off to france for a mini hol, and got the boxes for £7 each for really good wine. It works out at £6 per litre on the table. Much cheaper then the £15 per bottle at the venue. We also bought mini champers for everyone, as a favour typr thing, they will pop their own bottles during the speaches. We got away with no corckage on that.

Ohh, and we've hired a pims fountain, bought the Aldi cheap brand of pimms, worls out at £3 her head for 2 drinks. bargain!!!

Not a drinks package as such cos our venue doesn't do them but we're providing free alcohol (and soft drinks!) all day and evening - limited to wine and beer though, oh, and champers for the drinks reception and toast. We were able to do it pretty cheaply cos our venue doesn't charge corkage - we got the champagne from tesco during their wine festival - normally it's £30 a bottle and we got it for £12.50, and the wine from France. It's worked out at about £2k for enough (hopefully!) champagne, wine and beer for 130 in the day and 180 in the evening. Everywhere we looked at with drinks packages would have been so much more expensive than that based on our numbers.

We had welcome drinks and bottles of wine for each table, plus the champagne. not a package per person as such but we followed the amounts they advised. and i think my dad bought some more on the day

i'm ? at the thought of not providing any wine with the meal at all, i will be honest. are the guests expected to buy their own?

i'm not someone who says you must provide free booze all day for the wedding to be a success, but surely providing drink with the meal goes without saying?

    hey

Ours is a bit like the others. Drinks is part of a total package.

Pimms/bucks fizz reception drinks whilst photos are being done.

1/2 bottle fo wine each with the meal. kiddies drinks throughout.

    Champagne to toast.

Then any extra wine that doesn't get drunk at the wedding breakfast would be put behind thee bar for the evening and we would put some money there too.

I must admit i would expect some sort of drink if i was having a meal but if i was just invited to the evening i wouldn't. HTH
