Can you park properly? Yes (and we are the only people on our road that reverse into the drive - just a little something I noticed!)

Can you change the oil/change a tyre/read a map? Yes although I'd rather someone else did the oil & tyre changes and I have a built in satnav so haven't needed a map in a while.

AC - very impressed by the teaching skillz too. I'd love to book myself onto a course.

You've become my new hero for that. Just FYI.

    I can drive

    I was 19 when I passed

I enjoy it much more than I would public transport, and sometimes driving somewhere gives me lots of thinking space.

I can park my car properly, but stuggling with H's ATM

I know what to do to the oil and tyres yes, I call the AA and wait.... ?. I can however read a map unlike MrLM, who states that road maps should be like ordnance maps, which he can read! ?

    Can you drive? Yes

How old were you when you passed your driving test? 17 and a half!

Do you enjoy it? Not anymore. I used to drive anywhere, without a map and it never used to bother me. Now, as I'm older I see too many dangerous drivers out there, and it takes the enjoyment out of it all.

Can you park properly? Yes. Except my car has (according to my H) the turning circle of the QE2, so it's not always easy. H says he'll get me some lady parkers.

Can you change the oil/change a tyre/read a map? I can check the oil, but not change it. I can put the air in the tyre and change it, and I can read a map - although obviously not whilst driving, 'tis a bit difficult.

    I can drive.

I was 17 and four months when I passed my test.

    I enjoy it immensely.

I can park properly, forward, reverse, parallel (are there others?).

I can not only change the oil, change a tyre (well, I assume you mean "change a wheel"?) and read a map, I can change brake pads, alternators, batteries, any lights etc. I'll give anything a go, where physically possible for a smallish girl.

I reckon I might be one of a limited number here (maybe the only girl?) who can describe, aided by self-drawn diagrams and without the need for prior research, how a Wankel engine works? Anyone?

    ?

It's a type of internal combustion engine that uses a kind of pressure chamber/rotor affair instead of pistons.

I see your Wankel engine and raise it - I have actually stripped down and rebuilt a Mini engine. And it worked afterwards too! (actually am still impressed as have no idea what you are on about!)

Do you enjoy it? No. I'm not a nervous driver at all but driving does bore me. I do enjoy the freedom it gives you though.

Can you park properly? Bay parking: yes. Reverse (parallel) parking: not brilliantly.

Can you change the oil/change a tyre/read a map? Yes, No, Yes.

    Yes

    17

    love it!

Yes but could park better before I had sensors, now I am just lazy.

I can top up oil, air in tyres and read a map. Can't remember how to change a tyre despite going to a womens road safety class but my new car doesn't carry a spare tyre anyway.

    Can you drive? Yep

How old were you when you passed your driving test? 17

Do you enjoy it? General driving? Not really. Used to do Trackdays which were much more fun.

Can you park properly? Yes, don't really understand how people can't park.. It's simple.

Can you change the oil/change a tyre/read a map? I could do all of these things. Do I choose to? No, not when I can get others to do it/have a TomTom.

    H ehe.

Internal combustion engine - that big thing under the bonnet.

Pressure chamber/rotor instead of pistons - a different way of making chambers in which your petrol explodes.

I cant drive ? BUT funny this thread came about because I have just started my driving lessons. I have never had the confidence to do it before now, I had an accident when I was 18 and everytime I sat in the drivers seat I would just freak out, I only stopped being a nervous passenger about a year ago, but for the first time in my life I now actually want to learn to drive. So hoepfully of this question is repeated in a years time I can come back with a big fat yes!

I thought a combustion engine was something that blew up (like when someone spontaneously combusts) as for the other gumpf... meh.

I feel like I have learnt something today, however. Ta, Footlommmb. ?

    Yes I can drive.

    I passed when I was 18 (April Fool's Day 2003... 4th go...)

I hate driving. It's a means to an end for me.

I can park very well. My first job was near a school so parking was at a premium as we'd get there at the same time as all the mum's, many in 4x4's at this school, so you'd have to fit into whatever gap there was. At the time I drove a 1.8l diesel Fiesta with no power steering - once you could parallel park that you could parallel park any car.

I can read a map, but probably couldn't do the other things. Not in this car at least. And I have Green Flag for changing tyres (the only time I have so far called them out in 8 years!).
