Driving to the O2

(Claire), 4 November, 2013 at 12:36 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 10

So me and Hubs are off to see the ATP world tour finals on Thursday ? I am beyond excited. Anyway if we were to drive there, where would we park?

There is parking there, but you have to pre-book and it looks quite pricey - details are all on their website.

There is not much in the way of on-street parking nearby as it's all newbuild housing blocks and not much else round there - it's a very odd area IMO. There is a Sainsbury's a short bus ride away where you might be able to cheekily park, but I don't know how strict the parking wardens are in the evenings!

I would personally use the Jubilee line if at all possible, but if you're coming from outside London this may be a bit tricky.

There's parking onsite but it costs about £20 from memory (although I haven't been in ages). I think I've heard people say there's and NCP car park near by that's cheaper but I don't know the details - sorry! not much help

Yeah I've just had a quick look and it looks like we can park at North Greenwich tube station and jump on the tube, mind you by the time we've paid parking, and tube tickets I'm thinking we might as well just park at the o2! Decisions decisions!

We parked at the O2, it was nice and simple and after a long day there and facing a long drive home I'd have been really irritated by having to mess around to get back to the car. Well worth the money IMO!

We went a couple of weeks back and it was £30 to park there if not pre booked. Somehow we managed to leave without paying as when we went to pay the ticket machines said there was no fee...result! Anyway there is a car park next to that one for the train station (I think) that we have used a few times before. Much cheaper parking but you have to get there ealry to get a space.

Just to add another scenario into the mix, Stanmore is right at the end of the Jubilee line. It's just off the M1 with loads of parking. You could just get on there and stay on until you get to Greenwich. Means you wouldn't have to fight your way into and out of London with the traffic.

Do you mean North Greenwich Tube station? That's literally right next to the O2, you wouldn't need to get the Tube anywhere! Though I'm not sure the station has its own parking.

The station car park is cheaper than the 02 parking and they are right next to it.

That's nuts! Someone didn't think that through properly...

Makes even less sense as there is NOTHING near the Tube station that you would need to park your car for except for the O2.

Yes I think it's that one Helenia. Looks like we'll be parking at the tube station.
