Part One…
After spending most of Thursday night packing for England - it was a case of ‘will I need that’, ‘could I make use of that’….what if’s. I had no idea what was in store for me apart from the fact that is was going to be in Oxford so I needed to be prepared for all outcomes (it must be the Girl Guide in me ?).
I left work at midday and got my hair done (any excuse) and picked up my friend – we had a few tears as it was the first time she was going to leave her baby…bless. But cheesy music was turned up on the radio and we were off. I’d had reports all day from Penguin to tell me how her train journey from Edinburgh was going…I think she had the best journey out of everyone, no delays or wrong turns so she definitely let the train take the strain!
We finally got to the bar at the hotel, because obviously that was the most important thing to do and the first batch of hens began to arrive. I was so excited, as they’d all had to travel from various places inc. Taunton, Portsmouth, Northants, Nottingham… and it was nice to know that they cared enough to travel that far ?.
I was told that the theme of Friday night was Red & Black, so I put on my black cherries dress and we went to ‘The Living Room’ for Dinner where I met another 3 of my friends. The food was delish, but it was during this time that I wished I stuck with normal pants… bloomin M&S shapewear, I thought I was going to be sliced in half they were that tight & I threatened to go commando…but couldn’t go through with it…good job really, it could have been messy!!
We all wore sparkly masks, and I had an extra feather headdress to wear, which actually reminded me of a very unfortunate chicken, but it was funny.
Everyone had to bring a gift to the weekend which reminded them of me, so the two girls that could only come for the dinner gave me theirs, it was brilliant I got lots of things that reminded me (& them) of when I worked at the local radio station…from cookies, to radio’s, to pink wigs. We played a game where all the girls had to draw a picture of my H2B, which was hilarious especially as a couple of them hadn't actually met him...I'm looking forward to showing them to him soon.
After the meal (with Cocktails) we were attacked by people with stickers for free shots of Sambuca at a club down the road – now for those that don’t know me, I’m NOT a big drinker ?, so this filled me with dread. But I have to say not once did I feel the pressure to drink more than necessary all weekend, although there were a couple of moments when my lemonade & lime didn’t quite taste right…ahem. I didn’t really like the music in the first bar, and all the men looked like dealers or big issue sellers…so we moved on to find the cheesiest nightspot in Oxford…Jongleurs, my shoes were comfortable, the venue was not so busy which allowed me to dance like a loon, the music was GOOD, what more could a B2B need.
1.30am came round quickly and I felt REALLY good and we had a wicked night…
Next stop…Saturday… ?
