Lots of French people follow this diet i've heard. A girl i work with has been doing it too. it's really worked for her but seems very obscure! she keeps stirring stuff into yogurts and couldn't eat loads of stuff at first, think she's allowed veg now! i couldn't do it personally. it'll take me longer but i'll have to stick to weightwatchers! xx

I am a member on weightlossresources.co.uk and they wrote a review of the diet. I don't think I can link to it as it seems to be members only, but basically their opinion seemed to be that it is like the Atkins diet but even more restrictive. The key is no carbs and high protein.

Their view (and mine) is that it is very unbalanced and that most of the initial weight loss is likely to be loss of water, not actual fat loss.

I did find this review: http://www.diet-reviews.co.uk/does-the-dukan-diet-work/ which I'm sure you've already read, but it just supports the above - unlikely to be sustainable and not good for you in the long run.

If you want to lose weight healthily I really can't recommend weight loss resources enough. I've only been a member a week (want to lose a couple of stone before the big day) and it's a really useful resource and encourages balanced, healthy weight loss. So useful (and no, I definitely don't work for them!).

    Absolutely 100% working for me.

I am thrilled with my weightloss on it. I am just coming up to week number 8 & have lost almost 2 stone now.

I have gone down almost 2 jeans sizes have never felt hungry on it & am loving the fact that I have got my curves back to my waist rather than it just being one horrible lump.

I have veered off it a bit this weekend as it was my sons 14th birthday & I had a few too many slices of his bday cake but got straight back into it all today & started out like I did at the very beggining of the diet (just sticking with the protein for the next week)

I feel so much better & cant believe how much happier I feel in myself. My aim is to look good in my bikini when I am on the beach in Cyprus later this year.

    Hope that helps

    Debbie

I don't follow any diet at all but I could never cut out carbs. I would certainly lose weight but I would be putting myself at serious risk because I have a limited diet as it is and carbs are the only thing that keep me going. I am so in envy of people who can follow a non carb diet and don't know how you do it. Everything I eat has carbs...cereal, cereal bars, rice, chips, biscuits, cake....do you see a trend developing here!

My friend has recently tried it and lost about 3 stones...she did however, put it all back on. Its the age old, eat a balanced diet and execise im afraid-if you restrict yourself, you'll only put on weight faster when returning to 'normal' foods.

Completely understand people doing diets before a weding, but dont forget he loves you as you are, not who you will be in x stones lbs time!!

    xx

As a confirmed "carboholic" I can honestly say that I have not missed bread.

I am the worlds worse at having will power but I have found the dukan to be an absolute breeze.

I really did think that I would have difficulty in giving up all my sweet stodgy crappy foods but I have not felt any hardship doing it. I swapped my sugar for sweetners in my coffee & now take skimmed milk rather than full fat. If anybody had told me a few months ago that I would be giving up my sugar rush I would have laughed at them.

If I do ever get the need for anything sweet, I make one of the oaties that is in the recipe part of the book. Its kind of like a pancake. Or I eat a fat free yogurt (never realised they could taste so good)

I found that as soon as I cut back on my carbs that I didnt start craving for my usual sweet things. I drink lots of water but also diet pepsi too rather than the full fat stuff.

I think the thing that has spurned me on so much is that the results are almost instant with it. I lost quite a few pounds in my first week & kept losing every week after.

I have 7 weeks till my hols & I know that I will be down another stone - sone & half before then & I will no longer have to moan about being the fat bird on the beach

I LOVE this diet!.. its fantastic.. i hate diets where you can jsut eat rabbit food and drink water. In this diet they teach you to make really nice meals for example my attack phase (for the first week) my diet goes:

Breakfast: ham omlette, Snack: home made cookies, Lunch: Tiger prawns in home made sauce and home made pancake, Snack: natural yoghurt, Tea: Home made chicken curry.. as much tea and coffee as you want and plenty of water.. now what could be better than that!?!? lol

you can make good for you stuff such as curry, pizza, cheesecake, icecream and so on.. so you dont have to miss out on anything.. i even give my friends it when they come for tea and cant even tell the difference!

I aim to loose 2 stone and have calculated if i just do the diet i can loose it in 12 weeks, or even quicker if i add effort in and exercise! Smiley smile

YAY Mrs Keating... another fan of this fab diet.

I am SO happy with my own weightloss on this & like you say, you can make some gorgeous things with everything you are allowed.

I have lost 2 stone in 8 weeks on it, gone down almost 2 jeans sizes & feel amazing on it. my skin is glowing & I really do feel that I have found something that suits me. I want to lose another 1 - 1.5 stone by the time I go on my hols in October & I know I will easily do it.

You will have no problem whatsoever losing the weight you want in 12 weeks

Keep me updated on how you are getting on with it

    Debbie
