Hi

What are your plans for during the wedding breakfast?

Will you have nothing / music / live singer?

Not sure what to do! x

We're having background music during the drinks reception but it will probably be turned off for the wedding breakfast. We're seating our friends on tables together so I doubt it will be very quiet!

Do you think it helped with the atmosphere etc or did it blend into background nicely?

We had music on that we had chosen, made a mix tape of Indie love songs. I think its far too quiet if you don't have anything on. You wouldn't have guests round for dinner and not have background music on would you?

We're got a pianist booked for the drinks reception so we're just going to have background music during the wedding breakfast (probably Vitamin String Quartet versions of indie/rock songs).

We didn't have anything but with our families we didn't need to! If we'd had music no one would have been able to hear it anyway as everyone was talking.

I have never thought to have music on when we have people over for dinner, is that weird? I'd get distracted from the conversation.

We r not but mainly because we are struggling to find music to play during the drinks reception, so the thought of then having to find more is enough for us not to bother!

It's always nice to have some sort of live music for the wedding breakfast but choosing the right type can depend on a number of factors.

    1) The size of the room - This can be issue and it is usually advisable for the musicians to have their own amplification. e.g. a classical guitarist or violinist will easily be drowned out if the venue is large, but if they have an amp then it usually isn't an issue.

    2) The musical taste of the guests - The musician(s) you hire should have a diverse repertoire.

You could also consider having a magician. This has always gone down well at the weddings I have played at.
