Dusting off the air con unit! - heatwave next week!

bobbly1, 28 June, 2009 at 13:15 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 4

After being really hot last night (even with all the upstairs windows wide open!) - I have finally succombed to dusting off the air con unit for the bedroom.

We've had it about 7 years and it is really great, but eats electricity, so have been loathe to use it up until now!

How do you keep cool when evening temps are going to be about 18 degrees at night?

    I love my air con!

I have 2, one in the front room and one in the bedroom. They are the best things we ever bought. I have one of mine 7 years too - still works brill - it was worth the money. I don't care about the electricity cost, its worth every penny ?

They dry out the air too, so its not humid in the house. The only problem is that it's so nice in here I don't want to go out!

Never really gets humid down here on the coast - have actually found the night-time very comfortable of late. Having the window open is enough to keep the whole flat cool. Only draw back is the random shouting kids in the street behind our house.

Gingey - know where you're coming from. I have very vivid memories of hot summers in Melbourne when i was a teenager. Bloody horrible when it didn't get below 29 deg at night! And we didn't have air conditioning in our bedrooms. I used to press my face against the flyscreen on the window to see if i could feel any cool air... nuttin'.

My little boy's bedroom was 31 when he went to bed at 8.15 last night and still 28 at midnight. Damned stupid house with it's heat retaining qualities....sigh.....
