Dying Satin Shoes

jped, 15 May, 2013 at 12:15 Posted on Planning 0 3

Hello, think we have finally found our 'Midnight Blue' MOH and Junior bridesmaid dresses but now we have the 'shoe' problem! I was thinking of buying some satin shoes on the high street dying them myself but after reading various comments think it might be better to buy dyeable shoes and send them away and get them done professionally and to the right colour. Has anybody ever used Colour my shoe?

Thank you.

I bought mine from the bridal shop and they are sending them away to get them dyed at no extra cost (although the shoes weren't the cheapest in the first place, but it's worth paying more to save the hassle factor IMO!). I'd definitely recommend getting them done professionally though but I'd also be a bit wary about sending my shoes in the post, in case they got 'lost' or ruined in transit. Perhaps get them insured or sent special delivery?

It's good that they'll match a swatch of specific fabric though! I just had to pick mine from a colour pallette.

In my former life as the Manager of a shoe shop in Leeds, we used to dye shoes to fabric samples for bridesmaids. Cobblers also used to do this but I am going back a fair few years! I would think the bridal shop would be a safer bet these days!

Thank you, I think your both probably right - was really looking for a cheaper option as i'm guessing the wedding shop is going to be expensive!

I had a bride who dye'd hers red herself and they looked fine, a little was over on the inside (photo) but you canot see that when they are on, also everyone will be at least 5f away from them so will never see up close.
