How will global leaders know I've switched off the lights? Do I need to switch off my computers or tellie too?

Register on the site - WWF are collating numbers of people who are switching off. Last year there were some great pictures of landmarks with the lights off. The more you turn off, the better in terms of energy consumption, obviously, though it's the lights that they're hoping will make a visual impact.

I'm turning my lights off at about 11/12 tonight. I figure we'll get more participants at that time ?

we turn off the lights anyway, well, if we're spending the night in front of the idiot box, usually with a couple of candles though.

I've only got a couple of lights turned on at the moment anyway! Shall be turning them off though, and the children know about it through school. Signed up just now as well!

Got the candles at the ready ?

Well our new living room light is broken, the kitchen is on half light as is the bathroom and the hall as we keep forgetting to buy bulbs, so we're halfway there already ?

I bought some solar lights today. They're in the garden, though, does that count? ?

At 9.30 this evening lots & lots of people will bundle Tarquin, Armando and Cressida* into the Volvo and tootle up the motorway to Victoria & Anthony's* place to have a glass of a reasonable new-world Chardonnay to celebrate sticking it to the man and let each other know how they're doing their bit, actually.

Thanks for the that. I have signed up. I knew about it already and plan to turn off as many lights as I can(the children like the landing light on when they are in bed)

I'll be out so my lights will be off anyway - but I am kind of hoping the restaurant doesn't plunge us all into darkness....

I wonder if anyone has factored in the carbon footprint of the firefighting vehicles which may/may not be required when lots of people start lighting candles at past vino hour on a Saturday night?
