Hmmm so no one cares that it was a total remake of Tiff dying (killed by Janine's dad in exactly the same way, 10 years ago)

I saw it coming, I did, honestly. I said the minute that Stacy said 'she was here a minute ago' that she was going to get run over.

only Janine had got into that car such a long time previously I didn't suspect it would be her that mowed her down.

Oh well. It did have its moments, undeniably, but not v original. to be fair the writer who wrote the Tiff stuff also did tonight's. maybe they thought it was worth doing again ?

Mrs B it hadn't escaped my attention. However I think the team doing tonight's episode were significantly poorer than those dealing with poor, doomed Martine Tiff ??

Oh well. That's what happens when you watch the soaps. I saw tiffany die but since I met H have not been 'allowed' to watch!!! I used to watch Eastenders (omnibus) Corrie and Emerdale with Brookside thrown in - in the good old days!!

Sadly the only things I really watch nowadays are Mastermind: Uni Challenge : Apprentice and any decent documentary.. I like chat shows but have really gone off watching something regularly every week..

Maybe I should get a life and relax

A few years ago during a stunt where an actor was driving fast around the square, the driver lost control of the car at a corner and crashed in to a cameraman very nearly killing him.

I'm living in dream land, I keep thinking that just maybe it won't be as sad as normal and she's actually not quite dead, just in need of urgent attention - it's tragic, poor Ronnie ?. She'll never get back with Jack now, too many demons. Pah

That was rthe first time I've ever cried at 'Enders, i think.

danielle's been a bloody annoying character since she joined, but what a fabby episode to go out on!

Oh, and absolutely WHazelSaid about motherhood ruining soaps. I'm useless with that sort of storyline since having a baby.

I saw it coming too. The minute Janine stormed off in the car - only she must have taken a damn long route round the square. This did not stop me crying at the end though. I though Samantha Janus did really well. Although I also suspect motherhood has messed with my mind.

Thought it was fantastic - great acting all round. And I was a blubbery mess too.

Just a shame Ronnie can't ever have any happiness - I hope she & Jack can get back together.

I SO did not see that coming. The girls and I were gripped throughout the last ten minutes. The bit that really got me was the blood curdling scream Ronnie let out right at the end. I was crying and everything ?

Yes it was a total rip off of Tiffany's death but I really didn't see that coming. I thought Ronnie & Danielle would fly off to Ibiza and get some mother / daughter time together.

    Poor Ronnie.

I knew she was going to die, it's Eastenders - when did anyone really have a happy ending after such a long running story? Also annoyed that it was a rehash of Tiffany's death.

Acting by Samantha Janus was fantastic though, I was a flipping wreck by the time it was finished and my mum phoned at exactly 8.31pm to tell me she loved me! ?

I don't care at all that is was like Tiff's death, in fact what with it being Janine wot did it, I rather thought that was the point ?

Either way, I thought it was brilliant and can't wait for tonight's episode!

I loved last night's episode! I hadn;t enjoyed one so much since Tanya found out about Max and Stacey in Dec 07 (I only know when as we were on honeymoon and watched it while away [romantic icon])

I loved Samantha Janus, I thought she looked fabulous too. And I loved archie too, he's sooo different to when in Gavin and Stacey

I've only seen him in Eastenders but saw an episode of G&S last week that he was in and it was really weird seeing him play someone so totally different.

What will happen to Janine - will she be charged with death by dangerous driving?

I love Mick (Archie in G&S) and took a while to get used to him in Eastenders but think he's played it brilliantly. H & I think I'm going to be like his wife Pamela ?

    Is Archie leaving now?

I knew what was going to happen, and had been very annoyed that it was all taking so long to happen but, my god, that episode was worth waiting for. I usually spend the whole half hour of Eastenders shouting at the TV and wondering why I watch such pap, but last night was amazing. I started crying when Ronnie threw her out on to the street and am welling up just writing this!

When you knew the ending in advance, it was hard to miss the set up with 'the sports car' ?

I agree with Hole the fact that it was Janine killing someone in the same way added to the twist and was actually very clever. Good on the writers for the small details.

I want a refund! I've invested hours and hours of my life watching this ruddy storyline with all the whinging, crying and ranting and months of will-she-won't-she and *that's* how they finish it! Bastards!

I don't watch eastenders but did last night as i was at a friends' house that had it on.

I'm with you on this. I could see it coming too, otherwise why all the pointless stuff with Janine outside the car lot. It was obviously done to mirror Tiffany's death. Can't believe that was 10 years ago!!

For some reason I can't quote. But I agree with HH, I thought the whole point of it was that Janine did it, whilst searching for 'Tiff' . . . . So yet another link with when her dad ran Tiffany over all those years ago!

I thought it was great and I was pleased that it hadn't been disclosed what was going to happen, so it came as quite a shock to me

I do think there were some good moments in it, although the champagne locket stuff was a bit of a let down, I was waiting for a much more ingenious twist (like Archie finding the locket and pocketing it and Ronnie finding it in his jacket or something)

The 'baby' 'mum' stuff was v moving, actually, even me, the hard faced storyliner, had a lump in my throat at that bit. La Janus did v well, that wail at the end was very realistic and heartrending. I thought it was well directed as well.

I know they were trying to be all homage-y re the Tiff stuff but for me it just felt like they couldn't think of a clever, new way to end this story. But maybe I'm just an old grump because I worked on the original Tiffany's death ? (tis one of my favourite moments of my career, so I'm probs just a bit precious about it ?)

Still I do think that EE is waaaay better than it's been for some time, good on them. They're a nice bunch there at the moment too, good people. so more power to their elbows. and how much better it was than the codswallop of Den's death and all that gangster crud from a couple of years ago. at least this was good family soapy stuff. rather than rubbish gangster stuff dreamed up by people whose idea of the East End is a night out in a gallery in Hoxton ?

Mrs B... I still cry at Tiff's death all those years ago, so you are allowed to be precious about it, it was good stuff.

However, I still cry when I see the bit where Jamie died and Sonya was snotting all over him.

Larry Lamb must be good at his job, I love him in Gavin and Stacey but hate him in Easties, actually I'm starting to dislike him in Gavin and Stacey now. I thought, before he came on Easties that he was quite good looking in a Martin Shaw kinda way

Agreed. Again! Homage-y (what a word - and you a writer!!?) it wasn't - it was just tacky and lazy.

I am really cross that they ended the story this way. I know it was always going to end it tears. I usually watch soaps as pap, and don't care at all what they do with / to the characters. But all the way through this, I've wanted Archie to get his, and for Danielle and Ronnie to be reunited. I really wanted a happy ending.

He was quite the heartthrob back in the early Eighties in Triangle, the supremely classy North Sea ferry soap. ?
