Easyjet or British Airways economy? Flight help...

Chedi, 15 November, 2012 at 21:23 Posted on Planning 0 14

Honestly - I/we've never booked flights ourselves, we've always left it up to family or for hen do, my MOH ? So, I'm having to be all grown up now and book my own flights.

Sooo...what would you recommend out of these two? There is about £5 difference on the day we want and a few hours out, but nothing major. Is there also anything else I should look out for? I know to keep an eye on luggage, and I beleive they both give a little allowance but honestly, I have no idea how much luggage we'd take (talking June in the med for 10days - I dont fuss with makeup/loads of toiletries/shoes so I keep to a minimum anyways).

Edit: Sorry if its a bit OT, but it is for our honeymoon ?

If it's only £5 difference, BA every time. You get a slightly bigger luggage allowance, you don't have to pay for checking in baggage (and therefore the overhead lockers are not chock-full of people's cheeky versions of "hand luggage"), you get free refreshments on the plane, you get allocated seats...

Easyjet is fine for what they do, but for your honeymoon, if the price difference is only that small, go for BA.

This is simple, book the BA flights safe in the knowledge you're allowed to check in luggage, sit together and not pay for a drink and then get on planning the rest of your honeymoon.

For an extra £5 I'd definitely go BA! We normally fly easyjet as usually its a lot cheaper but the one cabin bag rule drives me nuts - handbag in carry on for security, out for buying stuff in the airport, back in the carry on to board, out again as it has all the bits I want to hand..... What difference does it make if its in the damn bag or not! (Other than for those who take the mick and have a huge handbag and a huge carryon I suppose!)

I'd pay double to fly BA over Easyjet!

Same here! NIce staff, allocated seating, free food and as many drinks as you like. I'd never fly "budget airline" if I could help it (I put "budget" in inverted commas, since as the OP has realised, once you factor in luggage and other extras, they aren't all they're cracked up to be.

I'm not that bothered normally other than the bag thing. If its short haul its not much difference and in school holidays I'd sooner choose easyjet as the BAs strikes in the past are off putting. I don't fancy the "budget" long haul flights one bit though!

    I would go for BA.

If I was out on a spending spree for all the various items you need for a wedding, I would also get a BA credit card and use that for the wedding purchases (paying it all straight back to not be hit by interest) and then using the airmiles that you would gain to pay for the flights... just a random thought...

I used this tactic when purchasing a car, and used the points to supply me with wine hampers for some considerable time! Ha ha!

They wont be striking again in a hurry. As the strike wasnt balloted alot of the staff who did lost their jobs. Thats enough to put anyone off I imagine.

It's a no brainer, go for BA! They are SO much better than easyJet. Also, if you're on honeymoon, they might give you a free upgrade. No chance of that on easyJet where all the seats are the same (very basic) and you have to pay extra for drinks and food. If you fly with BA and get upgraded, you would get more comfy seats, more legroom and even better food.
