Eat less move more specifics required

DaisyCat, 16 July, 2008 at 17:51 Posted on Beauty & Wellbeing 0 3

I am a SWer but was just pondering on the ELMM thing. Eat less than what? Do you look at a meal and leave some, or how does it work? I feel I am eating about the minimum required right now so I am unsure how I could implement an eat less type of arrangement. Am I missng the point?

Eat less for me means eating smaller portions and not snacking between meals. Making sensible food choices and picking healthy options and trying to do some sort of exercise every day. So far this week I've done a Body Pump class, a 20 minute road run and a two hour dog walk. Tomorrow is a swim and Friday is a weight session and Saturday is another Body Pump class. Sunday I'm going to sleep! ?

Eat less calories than you expend on a daily basis - simple as that. For a sedentary woman this is typically 2,000 kcal per day and a man it's 2,500. A deficit of 500 kcal per day will equal a 1lb loss per week. Stick some exercise into the mix and you can lose more weight or eat a bit more. Don't go lower than 1,200 kcal per day though.

The moving more part is VERY important though. Exercise can increase your metabolism by building muscle, which burns more calories just by sitting there. It also changes your shape for the better.

I think I need to write a proper guide now ?.

To add to what Baron said, I think the concept of not feeling hungry/deprived is central too. This is about two things mainly: eating a lot (of the right stuff) and not forbidding any particular foods.
