Eating food in order of preference

ForTheLoveOfMrsBrown, 9 August, 2011 at 12:53 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 28

When sitting to dinner, do you eat the parts of the meal you like best first or last?

Last. Then I can keep the taste in my mouth for longer!

I am also a compartmentalised eater, I eat one thing at a time.... Beans on Toast = eat beans, eat toast.

Eat ALL beans then ALL toast? Or alternating mouthfuls?

For the "best until last" people, what if you get too full up?

I only do it with roast dinners. I always save the roasties until last but I have to make sure there's enough gravy to go with them.

I rarely get full whilst I'm eating, so I carry on. I just regret it 20 minutes later ?

Save the best until last. If i get full, i either save it until later, or force it down, which is really bad.

Best until last. If I think I'm getting full I move on to the good stuff. Though over my 26 years I have gauged how much it takes to fill me so I rarely put more on my plate than I am likely to eat.

    See this is my dilemma!

I used to eat things in reverse order of preference to look forward to the loveliest bits of the meal and it was fine until I dieted, because I don't have such a big appetite now. So I think I'm becoming a bit of a 'picker' eating a bit of everything then a bit more of everything!

My b2b does that - I just eat everything in any old order until I'm full. However if there's, say, a left over roast spud, then I'll somehow find room for it.

Aaah but that's because there's a separate area in the stomach for roast dinner *om nom nom*

I eat my veg first, then meat and if I have carbs I save them till last hoping that I'll be too full to eat them.

I tend to eat everything at once, although i'm more likely to eat the stuff i like first because i don't want to be too full to eat it. If i'm eating something like a roast dinner, i'll put a bit of roast potato, bit of beef and some veg on my fork and munch it together because it tastes so good that way!

Mrs C I'm the same as you! People at work think I'm strange.

I save best till last.....if I'm full up I still eat it. Probably why I find it hard to diet!!

OH is reverse he eats best thing first. He does have a very strange way of eating a Big mac though which he eats in sections, top bun then the meat then the middle bun etc

I eat a bit of everything but save a big bit of the best until last. I always eat my veg first to make sure I eat it. If I left it until last I'm sure I'd be too full (or comnvince myself that's the case). I always leave a roast potato or 2 until last because they're the best.

BIL2B is weird - his food has to all be totally separate and if his beans touch anything else he makes such a fuss!

I find it very odd that MrMini eats all of one thing on his plate before going onto the next, he will eat all of one veg, then the next, then the next? Very strange.

If its hot food then I eat things in the order I think they will go cold the quickest. Cold food I eat in order of preference.

I save the best for last unless I feel over-faced. If that is the case I give priority to my favourite. I am also a firm believer that pudding goes in a separate compartment. So, regardless of how full I am, there is always space for puds!

I mostly save the best till last, but mix it up a bit.

I also eat certain packets of sweets in colour order, depending on preference. Eg, fruit pastilles - yellow, purple, orange, green, red, but save a red and a green to eat at the same time at the end!

    Mmmmmm. Fruit pastilles.....

Generally I save the best till last. But with roast dinners i save a little bit of everything and have one mouthful of everything ?

Also, if we have roast chicken and stuffing. I have to have my stuffing next to my mashed potatoes and alwasy eat those two together

    Mmmm, Im hungry now!!!

I save the best for last, which annoys me sometimes because I can't always manage to eat everything. I also eat one thing at a time, and tend to eat around my plate clockwise.
