Eating out in Leeds

smarties, 2 November, 2008 at 19:29 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 12

I am going shopping for a day in Leeds with my mum in a few weeks' time. Last time we went, we ended up walking around for ages before we could find anywhere to eat, so I thought it would be sensible to do my homework this time!

So... can anyone recommend a good central place for lunch. We would like to go somewhere reasonably fancy, but not too over the top.

Any ideas?

Depends what you are after, all the major fast food retailers are on Briggate, McDs, BK, Pizza Hut etc. There is Nandos in The Light Shopping centre, Hard Rock Cafe, just behind the light.. my memory fades a bit there though...hope this helps a little bit.

Thanks for that glider. We are really looking for something a bit smarter than that though I think.

Preferably a restaurant where we can sit with a bottle of wine and chill out for a bit, in a 'ladies who lunch' kind of fashion!

In the Light there is also Browns, that is a nice restaurant.

There is Bibis not far from train station. There is also Est Est Est and Zizzis.

Hope that helps. Will try and think of a couple more.

    Hi

You could try the Living Room on Greek Street (just off Park Row), or there are two Brio restaurants, one which mainly serves pizza which is in The Light shopping centre and one on Great George Street which serves mainly pasta. If you like sea food there is a restaurant called Live Bait, which is a little walk from the main shopping area but well worth it if you like sea food!

If I think of anymore I'll let you know, or if you want to know anything else just ask.

Hope you enjoy your shopping trip! ?

I'll second the Harvey Nichols recommendation- the food is gorgeous! Also, Restaurant Bar & Grill on City Square (right opposite

    the station).

Another great little place is the Arts Cafe on Call Lane, great food and a lovely atmosphere for spending the afternoon with a

    bottle (or two!) of wine.

Loch Fyne on City Square (next to Restaurant Bar and Grill which is also good) and the Black House which is just round the corner. Also Strada has just opened on Greek Street - haven't been in that one but the Birmingham one is very nice.
