Ebay Bridesmaid Dresses

mrsbelcher2015, 14 January, 2015 at 11:29 Posted on Planning 0 12

Hi all,

Apologies if this has been asked before, but I have found these Bridesmaid dresses on Ebay that I really like and I wondered if anyone else has ordered them and can tell me what the quality was like? There's also numerous sellers, so any advice on that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks everyone.

Kathryn

I've not bought them but just looking at the ebay page I would be a bit wary. If you flick through the pictures you can see the colours have just been changed in the pictures. The girls are all in the exact same position with the same facial expressions, not to mention the random person lurking in the background never moves! It seems although they have tried to use a home setting rather than just an image with a white background to boost confidence, but even where the light hits the dresses never change.... just very odd!

You hear so many stories of horrible dresses coming from overseas. Perhaps ask a seller for pictures of the actual garments "in real life" if this is something you wish to go ahead with.

I wouldn't even bother buying from that seller that to me is a very dodgy listing.

I was going to have a look through the different sellers on Ebay to see if I found one that looked quite genuine, which is why I thought I'd check on here in case anyone has found a good seller.

Thank you for your help so far Smiley smile

They have good reviews and have sold plenty of items?

I have ordered one from dresslongbridal on ebay so i can check the quality.

Maybe its worth doing the same but obv check their returns policy.

Considering that particular listing is China that's an awfully long way to return one dress if the buyer was unsastisfied, think of the postage costs.

But if the dress is perfect, she is saving on the cost of dresses from over here. That's the risk but Ive been to two weddings where the bridesmaids dresses were from China and they were lovely.

    1) Bear in mind that if you pay less than £35 for a dress from china it will cost more to return it than you paid. It is therefore a gamble.

    2) They will be lookalikes to the dresses in the listing: expect less fabric in the skirt than shown so will suit slim or top-heavy bridesmaids but may be skimpy on pear shaped ones (whatever the size). The fabric may be thinner (less swishy/less movement) than in the picture so be prepared for that.

    3) You can't buy the fabric in this country to make a dress like that for the same money: if the gamble pays off you can grab a great bargain.

Although the photos look the same from one seller to the next they are often different factories so do make sure you look at feedback only for the company you are buying from. Also be aware that some chinese sellers will only give refunds after positive feedback has been given (against ebay rules but hey ho) and therefore if someone has thousands of positives and no negs at all that should raise a red flag fro you.

    4) If you decide to go ahead order them all at once: if you buy one to have a look and then want more the colour/cut may be amended.

Why dont you just order one and see how it is, if its naff you have lost £35 if not order the rest.

I have seen a few people with these dresses and from what i can gather the feedback is ok apart from sizes coming up small, if you can afford to lose £35 go for it

Thanks for your advice everyone. I was thinking of ordering one as a test to see what it's like, but it could potentially lose me £35 and we don't have a big budget as it is. I'll have a good look into all of the sellers and see if I think any of them look worth the gamble.

Theres a facebook page called wedding items for sale, people sometimes sell them on there a bit cheaper maybe you could but one off there to check them out. The lady who does my nails had the silver one and she loved it, just sent her a message on fb and she said it was fab

The listing has photoshopped images in - the original picture is from a couture designer, the dresses were platinum grey, and they cost a few hundred dollars each.

Not all sellers are bad, but when they have to photoshop an image rather than show their own version I'd be worried.

i also bought from Dresslongbridal on Etsy from china and they were great - but they have photos of their own dresses.

    save your money!

Hi kathryn, looking at the same ebay site myself - did you have any joy with them? Alternatively does anyone have any recommendations for london based dressmakers? I've got 5 bridesmaids dresses to buy with a budget of £75 each

I decided not to go down the Ebay route in the end, we're going on a shopping trip at the end of June instead to see if we can find anything. I just didn't want to risk buying them for them to not be what we want and then to have the hassle of returning and getting our money back.
