Ebay Dresses

GeordieBarbie, 25 September, 2009 at 21:46 Posted on Planning 0 17

Hi Girlies

There's been a lot of talk about Ebay dresses recently so i thought it might be good to start one thread with information about which shops have been used etc. I'm very keen to to go down this route myself ?

I've seen "Victoria Rose / Sweetsend Factory Shop" on Ebay (they're based in Reading like me so am keen to try this one) - anyone got any other recommensations / pics to share?

Thanks!

Ive been hunting online for the past few days and i love the dresses and the prices!

My earlier post was for dresses from lightinthebox.com and ive been researching them all night and they seem to be a good option as well as the ebay shops...

The only problem is trying to find more detailed pics as the ones on the websites arent always as detailed as i would like!!

I definately think im takiing the plunge and getting one though. 99% sure. ?

I bought a wedding dress off perfect.bridal but it wasnt all that to be honest, there was alot of material hanging off and alot of the beads had come off and it wasnt made to the measurements i gave them so i wouldnt reccommend them. I have bought a bridesmaid dress off lightinthebox, will post pics when it arrives

I bought an ebay dress, mine was from china. It was a lovely dress but the quality just wasnt there, and it didnt feel as special. It was small touches like instead of diamonds on it it had sequins, and the stiching was obvious, and the actual dress matierial was different. But it was still a lovely dress. And remember the pictures are the designers pictures, not the pictures of the copies that they make so the dress you get will be different. So far I think me, Jem and now Laineywhu have bought online dresses and not gone with them.

What Moya said, mine was satin and was good quality but the feeling wasn't there, it's quite difficult to explain and I've now bought one from a bridal shop.

I am thinking of getting the bridesmaids online, saw some I liked on lightinthebox.com but now I'm undecided about what I'll do for my dress, it really depends on our budget, will have a clearer idea of that when we book venue I suppose.

I ordered mine from Chine last Friday so i am waiting for that to be delivered, and will keep you posted! I'm not really getting my hopes up too much although it would be a lovely way to save money if it was a good dress!

Hi girls, have any of you been charged tax upon delivery? Or do they put it down as a gift?

    Just wondering.....................

It's either 22% or 30% but from what I can work out that's mainly from America. Coming from the East they tend to be marked as a gift! I've heard stories though that they'll put a cheaper value on the packaging so it qualifies as a gift, but be careful because if the parcel gets lost in the post then you'll only be credited with that amount xx

I'm thinking of buying my bridesmaid dresses from a liverpool based online company called http://stylenotesltd.com/ . I'm intending to buy a swatch and then buy 1 dress before making a decision, I just haven't taken that 1st step yet! Would be so much easier if I could find what I wanted on the high street!!

    Hi Blackkat,

I heard about this website and googled it and managed to find your forum post and so I hope you dont mind me contacting you.

we acually live quite near to Liverpool and so thought this would be perfect - plus Ive actually found the dress i was looking for on their site! The only concern that I have is that they dont seem to have an actual address and so wanted to see if you could offer any reassurance??? Have you already booked your dress and seen it?? Do they just post it out to you for you to try on??? This site seems perfect but after all of the horror stories you hear about websites I dont want anything to go wrong on my day!!

Please message me back if you can offer any help at all???

    Thanks

    Hi Mel,

I've been emailing the company quite a few times & what I'm gonna do now is pay a deposit for a sample dress (not in the right colour though) and then return it within 7 days to get the money back except the £6 postage & however much it costs to post it back. Although if you're in Liverpool you can probably collect a sample dress (look at the clearance sale link on their webpage) & then return it & if you like it then you can order a made to measure 1. I'm hoping to order my sample at the end of this month (when I'm next visiting home) & I'll post on here about the quality. They're a great deal for the dresses I just hope that the quality is good.

    Kat
