Ebay: item not completely as described

NeoShoegal, 30 October, 2008 at 11:55 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 3

I bought a top on ebay and it's supposed to come with a belt (just a ribbon). That's how it looked on the picture and what it said in the description. Item arrived today and the belt is missing, so I emailed the seller asking if she can send the belt.

Just received a reply:

"hi hun.i'm so sorry i never noticed the ribbon was'nt with it,please send back & i will fully refund you, again sincere apologies x"

I don't want to return the top, I like it. I can always just go buy some ribbon myself to use as a belt. Would it be reasonable request a partial refund (to cover the cost of buying the ribbon)?

If it was a really good bargain, I would personally just buy some ribbon and not ask for a partial refund. - sounds like an honest mistake.

Personally I wouldn't bother, but you are probably within your rights to ask for a partial refund.

Wouldn't think a piece of ribbon would cost a lot though.....

    That's seems perfectly reasonable.

If you have to return, i would make it clear that your return postage should be covered by the seller. If you have paid by paypal- open up a dispute, and request a partial refund.

ribbon wouldn't be a lot, that's true. But it would be nice to get a £2 refund or something for it.
