e-bay question- do you think this was a con?

Mrs_M_2b, 30 July, 2011 at 15:27 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 7

I bidded on Wednesday night for 2 pauls boutique charms for a bag. I left the seller a message on the Wednesday just double checking these were genuine as he was new to e-bay and had no feedback, the seller wrote back pretty quickly confirming that they were so i paid for the item. The item delivery date is the 2nd of August but the parcel has yet to be marked as released and i also sent him another message last night asking if he could ;leave me feedback for my payment to which he hasn't done nor responded to my message. Does this sound strange? what wou;ld you do?

It could be that the user is new and doesn't understand how these things work which is why he hasn't left feedback.

Also, if you only sent the message last night... it may just be that he hasn't read the email yet. Not everyone lives online 24/7...

I would give him the benefit of the doubt for now...some people forget to mark items as dispatched, and don't always check their messages straight away. If the item hasn't arrived in the next few days contact him again. If he is new he might not know about leaving feedback etc yet either. Then again I have dealt with people with loads of feedback before and they have ignored messages and not left feedback so it's all down to the person.

I sell lots on Ebay and never mark things as dispatched- save your worries untill they get here- if theres an issue then take it up with ebay then.

I'd wait until your estimated delivery date and if they've not arrived, wait a couple more days, then message him again. If he doesn't reply within 24 hours I would open a case in the resolution centre. I'm waiting on a response from what seems to be a fraud seller. I paid for my item and paid extra for express delivery (next day). That was Monday 2 weeks ago. Still no item.. no reply to 3 messages.. and since I left negative feedback onto his shiny clean 100% feedback score, he's had 5 negative feedbacks in the last week or so.. all for the same item. Having looked on his sold history though, he has recently sold about 8 of the same item and received positive feedback for them within the last week or so. Makes me furious but at least his feedback score is something like 82% now so hopefully people will stop buying from him when they realise what a scammer he is!

Im a big-ebayer.....i would imagine that either they haven't been dispatched yet or they haven't marked it as shipped. i forget all the time. items never come on the exact dates either.

although we are very trusting in some people i would never buy from someone who had no feedback - too risky

If I buy on ebay, I expect the seller to leave me feedback before I reciprocate......after all, I make the first move by sending a random money. It amazes me that many sellers expect for you to give them feedback first, when IMO it should be the other way around IYSWIM
