eBay related, any geeks about??

Maxibon, 16 September, 2010 at 17:30 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 1

I could do with some help please...

I sold an album on ebay last month and sent it out by 1st class post. it was only when I asked the person to give feedback on monday that he replied saying he hadnt recieved it. He said a couple of other things he'd bought (not from me) hadnt turned up either and that he was going to call into the sorting office to see whats what.

Well he got back to me and said that they couldnt do anything without a reference number. All I have is a certificate of posting saying ive posted out 2 things. The post office guy told me to fill out the addresses later, he has stamped it but nothing else to suggest that it was going to the recipient.

Where do I stand if they have totally lost it?

Will I have to give him his money back? I said I'd post it by 1st class - not recorded or anything, so he knew there may be risks.

Is he trying to pull a fast one - and is only saying that because I've asked for feedback? - Its been nearly a month and he hadnt said anything earlier.

Can he open a case about me this late on?

I'm not a pro at this, so any help would be very greatful

TIA xx

Unfortunatly they have 90 days to open a case, if they do open a case ebay will look into it and if they chose that you need to give a refund then you will get the money taken from paypal,

you can put in a claim into royal mail, it takes an age but usually you get a cheque through, there is loads of stuff you had to fill in and include.

i have to be honest i do a lot of buying and selling on ebay and if my item isnt here in a week i am right on emailing them, so maybe he is trying to pull a fast one,

    hope this helps

Personally, if you have stated that you are sending it first class post only and have a certificate of posting then liability for the item sits with royal mail??

I would contact ebay and see what they say, this is all I could find on the website ...

"If an item was posted without tracking information, please let us know. We’ll review the situation, but may still find you responsible for refunding the buyer if the item hasn't arrived yet."
