Egypt - Injections? Update!

C.G., 19 September, 2008 at 10:08 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 9

Do I need injections to go to Egypt? Someone mentioned that I do, but I'm not entirely sure that they are not trying to wind me up...

If I do need injections, how the hell am i going to get them before Wednesday?

This is not turning out to be the relaxing break i was after! lol.

Hep A, Typhoid, Tetanus and Polio are all recommended.

    Travel Doctor site says recommended.

You will probably be fine but don't take that as gospel.

So I can't blame you if i get typhoid? But you said I would be fine... ?

I'd have the injections if anyone could tell me where i could go for them. I am "between" doctors surgeries at the moment. Any other suggestions? Anyone?

I think you can go to medi centres and places like that, but you'll pay through the nose.

I wouldn't risk it with Egypt I was violently sick there ?

Can younot just register at a local surgery on Monday and have your jabs then? If you need to moev again afterwards, so be it.

I don't know, can I? Is it just a case of finding a surgery and getting them done on the same day?

I've not been to the doctors for over 10 years! I can't remember where my last surgery was. I'm sure when I moved house a few years ago I registered at a local doctors, but i'm buggered if i can remember which one!

I didn't have any jabs when I went to Egypt, and I didn't even know you were supposed to! You will probably have had a polio jab as a child so I wouln't worry about that.

A jab for each of those is not going to stop you getting a tummy bug - I was pretty sick when I went there so I'd stock up on the Immodium if I were you, and don't eat the rice as it's one of the worst offenders for food poisoning. That said, we still had an amazing time.

I've managed to track down which surgery I'm registered with. I am now booked in for Tuesday for three injections! That is the day before I fly! The nurse did say I should have had the jabs a minimum of three weeks before flying... Oh well.

This holiday had better turn out to be good.
