Electrical advice...

EmmaLouLou, 2 December, 2008 at 20:47 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 3

Am just popping over from BT for some advice...

The lights in certain rooms in our house dim and brighten significantly fairly often (maybe 5 or 6 times a night) Does anyone know what might cause this? The electrics are brand new, all done about a year ago... I know we need to get an electrician in but just thought I would ask!

Thank you!

WJoflakeS. Does it coincide with commercial breaks in popular tv programmes? The number of kettles which get switched on during the break in Corrie has been known to cause increased power consumption across the nation. ?

With it happening so often their could be a problem with your fuse box.

If you don't find any problems inside your house, it's worth having a chat with your neighbours to see if anyone else has this problem and if they do, calling your electricty distributor and ask them about it.

For the last year or so we have periods of lights (and therefore power) dimming in 1.5 second cycles in the evenings and we've just asked Western Power to look into it as our neighbours have experienced this aswell.
