Embarrassing really but I can't dance, what to do?

BespokeTailor, 6 June, 2011 at 20:50 Posted on Planning 0 4

As the title says I have two left feet. I love music, all different types but I have no sense of rhythm or style on the dance floor?

I did insist that we would have a proper band for our wedding as I love live music but now I feel a bit of dip stick because I will have to dance and really cannot!

It's quite funny really but I am bit worried I will look a bigger numpty than usual.

We are having a big band, this lot: http://www.conchordbigband.com/Conchord/Welcome.html

Anyone know any good places to learn to dance or recommend a DVD or online tutorial or anything.

(cluthing all my straws here|)

Will be watching this thread with interest as I can't dance either! Smiley sad

I am Dyspraxic and have absolutely NO rhythm whatsoever! My OH has a great sense of rhythm but even when I try I just freeze! I can't even do aerobics classes as I can't get my body to follow instructions!

I am dreading the 'first dance' bit and any subsequent dancing!

We just got off the phone to our barn dance caller who's trying to find us a simple dance for our first dance, and apparnetly we have something that needs a 32 bar waltz to go with it although it doesn't actually require waltzing in it, its just the time signature.

Googling the name of the dance only brings up some very strange indian porn which it definitely isn't so I'm a little bit on the stuck side myself.

Why do we put ourselves through it all...!!!!

We copied a load of videos from you tube... felt like idiots doing it but it worked for us, we found a few steps that we could do and just repeated!!

Jack B...a while back on this forum, and in your area, there was a company offering basic lessons in dance technique for weddings. If he is still around, hopefully he may pick up on this thread.....

I feel your pain...the OH reckons that I dance like Frank Bruno!!!!!!
