End of the night

Sprollie, 7 August, 2013 at 15:27 Posted on Planning 0 19

We have booked a gorgeous venue for our wedding but it doesn't have any rooms for guests or bridal party to stay over, this osn't a problem for us as it is 15 minutes drive from our house and from the majority of our guests. There are a few nice hotels and guest houses nearby and a premier inn near our house so i think most of our friends will stay there with the idea that we will go home that night and have breakfast with those guests the next morning. But i am wondering how we are getting home, climbing in the back of a taxi in a wedding dress just seems surreal, has anyone else done that or going to be?

We are also only 15 mins or so away from reception venue, my mum will be taking our son though and we'll be going to a hotel nearby for the night.
We'll probably book a taxi and i'll take another dress to get changed into as i'd feel so silly getting into one with a dress on and then going into hotel etc lol xx

I piled in a taxi in my wedding dress. I don't even think my husband was in the same one (I actually wasn't drunk for once but the whole day is a bit of a blur).

Trust me, you won't be bothered by that point.

I'm going to be walking! I'll probably pick up a kebab on my way home.

    (You think I'm joking.....)

The best man carried me, head first, into the back of a big white people carrier taxi (i.e. not glam). He banged my head on the door frame as he did so. I spent the next few days idly worrying about the possibility of a subdural hematoma.

Will probably just jump in a cab dress and all.... or walk back (venue is only 0.5 mile away from the hotel). With 3 days to go I haven't even considered it really... will just wing it ?.

Yep, was so exhausted, drunk, crippled, happy I could barely walk, got in a standard cab back to the hotel. Didn't care how I got there.

I will be jumping on a double decker bus (not the route master type - the school bus type, was the cheapest option) along with the other guests back to the hotel. My oh is currently trying to get me to order more than just a taxi to the venue, I don't see the point in spending the money!

I will be tottering tipsily up the road in my dress and probably barefoot to the hotel I'm intending on booking at some point...

This will be me too, and to make the 10 minute walk even more challenging for me and my guests, it is up a humongous hill!

We are going to book a minibus taxi for all the guest staying in our hotel so will either try and squeeze in there, get our own cab or try and squeeze in with a member of OH's family who isn't driving. Like everyone else said, by the end of the night we won't care!
