Totally doable as long as you're willing to be a bit creative and do lots of phoning around ? most important would be a venue, but if you are willing to have midweek wedding it should be no problem. You can buy lovely dresses off the peg in places like monsoon and debenhams.
ask on here for hibs who may be able to help out. If you're serious about it, you need to write a guest list NOW, so you can think about venues and start letting people know the date ? good luck!

I am sure others on here have done it in that space of time

there will be plenty of people to help, as ebee said, venue, tog and dress would be most important to look for first

    Firstly congratulations?

my dad and his fiancee are just arranging their may wedding since setting the date after new year (12 years engaged but that's a different story!). If you don't mind being very busy for the next few months, it's possible.

if you are dead set on that date, you may need to be flexible about other things (venues may be booked up etc) but if it's a saturday you may find things get a lot easier if you switch for the friday as the 1st saturday in august is very popular.

good luck- hope you can get it all sorted without too much stress?

It might be doable but depends what you want. As it's peak wedding season, I would imagine many venues are booked, ditto photographers etc. We're organising our wedding in 8 months, but our venue is not a traditional wedding venue yet (baronial house still lived in by the owners in rural Scotland). My first thoughts would be check if you can get what you want e.g. venue etc and if you can get booking things straight away. I'm sure everyone on hitched will do their best to help!

I am getting really stressed. We really want to do it the 2nd August and think we can but it is so normal to take years that when I tell anyone they look horrified. Venues almost sorted. Main worry I have is everyone saying it will take 6 months for a dress. I am a size 10 so surely I can just get one from the rails??

    It's completely doable.
My friend planned her wedding in 5 months and she had all the trimmings - a beautiful venue, proper wedding and bridesmaid dresses, the photographer/cars/florist/cake she wanted. She had chocolate fountains, a band, a DJ, the church... everything, except the weather ? She had no trouble with booking any of her suppliers. It was the nicest wedding I've been to TBH.
She wasn't working but she was on maternity leave, so she planned it all by herself while looking after a newborn baby (also by herself as her OH was working full time, often working away too), which I should imagine is just as hard as planning while working.

I think it is doable, as long as you have the main things booked! Although I'm being thick and don't know hwat tog means?!!

    Congratulations.
I think it's do -able. We started planning at the end of January for a wedding on 4 May. It's busy, lots to do in a short space of time but it seems to be coming together. I've had lots of help from CBM and my other BM.
I bought a "sample" dress that was a couple of sizes too big and it's being altered (they almost always need altering anyway even if it's the right size.
    Good luck.

We did it in 6 weeks ? had a church wedding, small sit down meal and then a bigger party in the evening ?

we got married on a friday which helped..... got the cake from m&s.... had a choice of venues etc.... I hired my dress cos i needed maternity ? but would have been happy with off the peg etc

    good luck!

Dress wise you could either buy a sample or off the peg. Same for bridesmaids if you're having them. And weddings don't have to take years to organise, 8 months was more than enough for me (I'd have gone mad if I had to think about it for any longer than that!).

Just let us know what we can help you with.

It certainly doable. We set our date mid Jan and married end of May, so we did it. The only thing that I think you should worry about is the date as it is peak wedding season, so you might have to be flexible to get the main suppliers.

tbh it wasn't really that rushed, once we'd got the venue sorted everything else fell into place.

    Good luck

My mate managed it all in 2 weeks! Invites were mainly by text, and most of the outfits from debenhams, but I was just amazed she managed it! Good luck!

When looking for dresses off the peg look up to a size 16 many can be altered down and that will open up more options for you

    whereabouts are you ?

i am ahving a sale in my shop this weekend for 2 days and there are loads of almost new samples going in it as i am overstocked so you may grab a bargain too , we've also got MOB in the sale too and bridesmaids

    First of all congrats!!!!

To answer your Q: I hope so!! you've got a slightly tighter dealine than me as we're going for the 21st Sept but I'm sure it's doable. My Mum's next door neighbour went into a wedding dress shop two days before hers and got a dress that was lovely so that's given me hope.

Once you've sorted your venue you're laughing. If you go for registry office followed by a reception you'll be fine with venues. However if you're wanting a civil do with your reception at the same place you'll be very lucky to find availability. That's why we've ended up with a Sunday in Sept.

Can someone please explain to me what exactly off the peg means? Do off the peg dresses come from wedding dress shops or are they just normal dresses from highstreet stores (eg Debenhams)

From wedding shops where u buy the actual sample that others may or may not have tried on depending on how lucky you are

this time of year a lot of delieveris are arriving so it means the dresses are immacualte

I agree - it's totally do-able, but you need that all important venue and vicar/ priest/ registrar etc... then all the rest can fall into place.

I've just got my bridesmaid dresses sorted after one days shopping and they are a variety of shapes and sizes so it is totally possible to do things swiftly.

If you're next set on a new dress internet auction sites are a great place to look and also there are selected Oxfam shops that sell both new samples and second hand dresses across the country too so you could save cash and time!

    Good luck - [:I]

I strongly advise against an internet dress on a short time scale if it comes back a rag you wont have hardly any time at all to get a replacement

First of all, hi date twin! ?

It's possible. Not on quite such a tight timescale, but we got engaged at Christmas and are getting married on August 2nd. We booked the venue on January 19th, photographer and stationer on February 20th, my dress on February 22nd, bridesmaids' dresses on February 23rd. You may have to go off the peg for your dress and the bridesmaids' dresses, although if you have your heart set on something you could pay extra for a rush job. That will need ordering very soon though.

    Good luck ?

    Totally doo-able!

Once the venue is agreed then with a bit of planning and creative thinking its easily sorted! We are getting married 29th August (a Friday) making it easier to get suppliers already booked on the Saturday. Six months after proposal! All I have to do now is organise my hair, and that's only because I don't know what to do with it!

M&S do great cakes, easily finished off to make it more individual.
Fleabay for other bits and bobs, Dress in your size will be a piece of cake from peg, auction site or even a dress shop!

The internet is a wonderful thing, saving you time and money!

    All the very best!❤️

    Elaine
