Engagement ring for OH............any ideas ladies?

I am planning to propose to my OH in january on his 40th birthday at a swanky hotel...........i have no idea which kind of ring to get him though!

    My friend's husband wore a plain band with a diamond on it as his. She insisted he wore one until they were married even though he proposed. His ring was similar to this.

    I bought an engagement ring for H2B last March, 5 months after our engagment but it was a suprise anniversary present.
