Engagement ring issues!

Karen1980, 3 February, 2009 at 15:06 Posted on Planning 0 12

OH proposed to me in Oct 2008 and we've had issues with the engagement ring ever since Smiley surprise(

Do any B2B know where their rings came from as I think we're going to have to get a refund to replace it Smiley surprise?

H2B's can you recommend any good jewelllers? that have rings under £1K?

Mine was from SWAG, who are wonderful, but they're only in the south east so that may not help you. Where are you? People may be able to recommend local, independent places.

Im based in South East London so that might work?

My ring is really nice with 'kisses' holding it up.

But we had lots of issues with the ring then when they sorted the bamk the diamond shave been very poorly set are are of bad quality.

Here's the pic from the site.

I had my 1st engagement ring (1st time around) from H Samuel and by the time we'd divorced I think I was on about no.4...terrible quality and just as bad service. Good job I didn't have to wear it for long.

You can have a consultation with a lovely SWAG person and they'll show you lots in your budget...they're not pushy at all and you might find something very different to your HS nightmare!!

Definitely go to SWAG then. They have beautiful rings to suit most budgets (definitely to suit yours); they clean and polish it free of charge whenever you like; they service it every six months and, as long as you're up to date with your services, guarantee the ring for ten years so will replace it for you if the diamond falls out or anything like that; and they'll resize it free of charge whenever you need it for the life of the ring.

I agree, SWAG is really good, alternatively I'd recommend Leslie Davis, which is where mine is from. I've been wearing it for 2 years now and it still looks as good as new, and was £850 so well within your budget.

They have a store in Bluewater if you can get there easily, which is where my ring is from. If not they may also have one in Bromley (the Glades) although I'm not 100% sure on that. I'm sure they're actually affiliated with Goldsmiths in some way though, so that may be another idea if there's one of those near you.

My ring cost £700 ish and I dont mind paying a bit more we just want a forever ring.

Im waiting for the next one ot come in but will be hunting in Bluewater in case that doesnt work out.

I feel so sorry for H2B as he went to so much effort and its not his fault but I think he's offended as he keeps saying sorry.

If it doesnt work out at Samuels I wabt a refund as from OCtober 2008 is plenty of time to fix it!

Mine was from 365-diamonds online.......no problems, I love it, and there's loads of different options ie you can change stone size, clarity, etc!

Sorry to hear you'rre haveing problems.

I was just going to suggest Samuels - mine is from there (a Forever Diamonds one) and I've not had any problems - maybe I am unusual.

What's wrong with your ring by the way?

The set of the stone is very poor - looks wonky in the claws.

The link to it is in one of my posts further up the page (how it should look).

First the band was wrong now the diamond is really pants and not sparkly Smiley surprise(

Will fourth recommendations for swag - the people in their bluewater branch are v.v.helpful - would definitely try there.

ETAL i went in there to look for wedding rings - spotted one which was out of my budget so they said they would see what they could do for me in terms of thinning the band or reducing the number of diamonds. we decided to go elsewhere in the meanwhile, but was impressed with their service and their willingness to try and find something for me.

Mine is like this but in platinum (don't know how much is was so dont' want to look that one up) - maybe it holds the stone in better - I have had a few dreams that it fell out though!

Hope you get it sorted soon ?
