Engagement Ring (pic)

fizzypop, 18 April, 2009 at 22:43 Posted on Planning 0 20

I am a happy BTB as, after two long weeks, I have my ring! It was slightly overshadowed by being a car accident, but hey, at least my bling is finally on my finger ?

Oh goodness, are you ok? What happened?

With regards to your ring, I can't see the photo. I think you must be logged out or something?! Can you actually post a photo?

I knew it wouldn't work, I'll try again. And my ring is a little smaller than that pic, happily, don't think my hand is big enough! And I'm OK, just annoyed as my poor little car needs fixing x

I'm just having a gold band, plus as I'll be a qualified nurse when we get married, I won't be able to wear my engagment ring at work so it won't matter.

Your ring is lovely and very similar to mine and I did have difficulty finding a wedding ring and eventually had to have one made to fit.x

Ahhh, that's good that you can wear your wedding ring to work. I didn't realise that nurses couldn't wear rings to work, but I suppose it's obvious isn't it! lol!

Thats a damn shame though, your OH saved all his pennies to get that lovely little sparkler for you to never wear it coz it wont go with your wedding ring???

I think you should still find a wedding ring that matches, there are many shaped to accomodate that ring..... like carla in Scrubs, wear your rings around your neck and tucked down your uniform (if permitted)

My OH was shocked when I said I would not always wear my ER when I have children (sharp corners) but I said I would always wear it at other times.

Teehee, I didn't mean I'd never wear it, I didn't even think about the wedding ring when we picked it (probably should have, hehe, but I fell in love with it) , just I can't at work as not allowed diamonds, only plain bands, it's infection control. I have an eternity ring he bought me for my 18th and that looks OK with my engagement ring, but I will have to have a look out for a plain band which has room for my rock. I could wear it round my neck but I'd be paranoid it would fall off (with my luck, it most probably would!) ?

Good! Just when Oohla asked u if finding a wedding ring would be difficult, you said that it woudnt matter (if it fitted or not) when U cant wear your ER at work.

I understand the 'at work' reason, just didnt get the 'doesnt matter if I cant find a wedding ring to match' reasons, but you've clarified that you didnt mean that at all.... excellent.

Hate the thought of a gorgeous ring being put to waste Smiley smile

I'm not sure what I meant by that, had a funny five minutes probably! It is gorgeous, I can't stop looking at it and fiddling around. It's very distracting ?

Lovely ring fi! It's a shame that nurses don't get to wear their rings cos of IC but hey, thems the rules! Whereabouts are you doing your nursing training?

Thank you! I know, I hate taking my eternity ring off for work too but it's got to be done. I'm at the Uni in Medway and on placement in Maidstone.

Ah! Know it well. I'm not a nurse but am doing some work for the local pct so have been to a few meetings at your hospital and met a few of the managers. Your hospitals had a pretty rough ride...

It certainly has! I started there after all that happened, but from what I see I think it's improved, and I've always enjoyed working there.

I think you're right, it has improved. What field do you hope to specialise in?

I really enjoy surgery, but then when I was working with older patients I loved that, too. So who knows. Maybe even wound care, as I do enjoy caring for nice, gory wounds. Weird, I know! ?
