Engraved messages on Thank You gifts?

Hello,

For bridesmaid gifts, are people putting 'from you and your other half' or just 'from you'? I was thinking of doing it just from me, as they are my bridesmaids...? is that wrong? Also brings me on to the usher/Best man issue....ushers arent really just for the groom but the best man is? Help!

Is anyone having more than 'Thank you', and the date? I wanted to make my BM messages a little more personal, but I realise there is only a certain amount of space!

The only things we've had engraved have been the pocket watches for our ushers etc. There was only enough room for:

X & X New Name
7th May 2011

We've then given them something else more personal to them.

I received a silver handbag mirror from my friend for being her bridesmaid at the weekend.

She engraved my name and their wedding date on it. It's simple but special because just seeing the date reminds me of her wedding and the lovely day we had. She wrote a more personal message in the card that was with the present
