Entertainment help please

Bridetb, 20 October, 2013 at 22:27 Posted on Planning 0 12

Hi everyone,

Im getting married in May 2014 and I've just started to get stressed because I feel like time for planning is running out fast!

So this weekend I have booked a photobooth and a band for on the night and also I have got my Aunty making us a sweety cart which looks great and as I have lots of children attending with 4 flower girls and 5 page boys I know it will be popular.

I was just wondering if people were having/doing anything new! Photobooths and sweety carts are very popular now and my

Husband was hoping we could do something a little different or new idea. But we are stuck on what we can do, any suggestions would be great.

Thankyou

    Hiya!
We're just having a dj & also having a sweet/ dessert / popcorn table thing and hopefully if venue allows it getting some bowls of punch etc.
Apart from that only having a golden eagle visit during the day although that doesn't count as entertainment haha.

The photobooth and band etc sounds fine but if you really want more some people have magicians (not our thing at all but some love them) & bouncy castles etc.

We'd like a photobooth but not sure the budget will stretch so guests will have to make do with that haha, I think with alcohol and adults mingling as long as theres music they'll have a good time so don't worry too much about being different or new as everything has already been done. Just make it as true to you & OH as possible and not just for entertainment Smiley smile

Pretty much everything has been done before.

Its easy to lose perspective when planning a wedding after information overload from mags, blogs, forums etc but the reality is unless any of your guests have also planned a wedding recently things like sweetie carts and photo booths will be new and different.

I wouldn't worry about doing something different for the sake of it, just do what you guys both love and everyone else will love it too.

Aw thankyou, you have made me feel a lot better about it now.

I kept thinking people would be bored and entertaining. But your right with our 120 day guests and with the alcohol and band I'm sure everyone will have a brilliant day.

Oh a golden eagle is fab! That would be brilliant to see you will have to post some pictures on after your big day

    Exactly what Funky said.

You need to try and take off the wedding glasses! Smiley smile

At our wedding people were impressed with the little things that I thought were pretty normal (drinks stirrers, bathroom basket and little sweetie jars favours to name a few).

    What Funky said.

I'm not sure I've heard of anything which is original to a wedding. What makes it different is the couple themselves.

What are your hobbies? Is there something about you and your OH you could try to encorporate in to your day or turn in to a bit of entertainment.

You sound like you've got enough sorted though if I'm honest. People will be happy to stand and chat (especially if there is a bar nearby). Not every minute will need to be full of things going on. I used to think like you & then I realised my wedding would be full of lots of random bits mashed together if I booked everything.

Glad you feel better, yeah your guests will have a fab time and you'll be too busy enjoying yourselves to think about all the details like that Smiley smile

Will definitely be partial to flashes after my big day haha!

    Hi Bridetb

The photo booths always go down well. We had one at our wedding 18 months ago which prompted us to add one to our business! Obviously you got chocolate fountains which are still very popular. Other sweety ideas could be a candy floss cart maybe?

Something different and providing you have space, could be a rodeo bull. We exhibited one of our rodeo bulls at The Liverpool Wedding Show a couple years ago and couldn't believe the response we had. We thought what the heck, set it up at our own wedding and it was used non-stop for 3 hours! Great fun.

Here's a picture of the one we exhibited a couple years ago..

PS - We have plenty of pics with brides riding the bull with their dresses on too. There's no excuse!! ?

    Hi all

I've recently done a blog post about unusual wedding entertainment ideas with a few things not mentioned here, as well as some guide prices. Hope it is helpful!

We are having photobooth too, and also a pinball machine, and a giant jenga (to put on the green area outside, weather permitting).

Hope it helps, but I agree, putting things for sake of it is never a good idea as you could regret spending money which could have gone somewhere else Smiley winking

We're having a proper sat down pub quiz, run by our local pub quiz guy after the meal (non-compulsory!). I'm sure it's been done plenty of times before, but it something that reflects our personalities. We're also having a games room, with (hopefully) a big screen and some classic games consoles and board games for kids, and big kids alike as we are pretty nerdy and have quite a few nerdy friends!

I think what the other ladies have said definitely rings true - it's you that will bring the unique factor. If there is something you both really love then see if you can incorporate that into the day, but don't stress about it too much. Generally, putting on some tunes and a few drinks should keep most people entertained Smiley smile

Add song singing waiters into the mix for some fun or a couple of flair bar tenders

    Hi

Enjoyed that read. Your welcome to add that image of the rodeo bull and my website to the blog. Some other items we regularly see at weddings are the giant garden games such as Jenga, Connect 4. We've seen inflatable twisters, buzz wires and strike it highs too.

Until last year we use to run a bouncy castle company also and had over 40 in our fleet. We did a couple dozen weddings each year with bouncy castles, gladiator duels, slides and assault courses.

A lot depends how much space you have available in the gardens of the venue, how many children are going and whether your venue will allow them. Even with public liability insurance and diesel generators, some venues just won't allow them full stop.
