Entertainment - what are you all having??

CLAIREYFAIRY2, 11 August, 2010 at 13:14 Posted on Planning 0 25

What entertainment is everyone having at their wedding. We are having the standard disco, but I am also toying with the idea of a couple of casino tables. I think the boys will enjoy this!

I'm also keen on a chocolate fountain.... a bit tacky but yummy!

What are your opinions and what are you all having?

Prob DJ, but I also want my cousin to sing and my friend to accompany her on the piano - not sure how we will fit this in though - they may do it at the church instaed of the reception.

Also I plan to have giant jenga, croquet, twister etc as we have a huge outdoors area and lots of kids (and big kids!) so if its a nice day this could be fun and an ice breaker. Did think about casino idea but not sure if it'll cost too much - the outdoor games I can prob borrow of people very cheeply and may be best for the kids.

We're having the standard disco and then big outdoor games too as theres so much outdoor space, it will hopefully keep the kids (and adults)! entertained. We're also goin to put some trivia cards on the tables durin dinner and activity packs for the kids. Nothin special entertainment wise from us!

We are hopefully having a friend sing/play claranet (sp?) whilst we are signing the register, standard organ for entry/exit, then possibly the giant games for drinks reception. Maybe trivia on the tables, just going to play harp CD during the wedding breakfast, then we have a DJ for the evening do. Now thinking of having photo booth and/or video booth (for personal messages) as well in the evening reception bit.

Loved the idea of a caracaturist but not sure we can justify the expense ☹️

We are having a singer who does rat pack, frank sinatra, etc songs. All stuff I love. He will be singing for the drinks reception and in the background whilst we eat.

Then on the evening the usual disco.

I looked at casino, etc but the budget stopped it unfortunately.

Instead of fireworks we are letting of chinese lanterns before the evening reception kicks off.

We've gone a bit OTT to be honest.

There is a massive lawn and we are having a bouncy castle for the kids, space hoppers and connect 4.

My step-brother is in an acoustic folk band, there are only two of them and they are going to do an hour or so of songs after the wedding breakfast, hopefully if the weather is nice they can do it outside in the sun.

Then we have a disco after that. Then suprise fireworks at about 10pm!!

Didnt realise we had so much entertainment!!!

    Cant wait!

I really want a local band to play, but they are reforming a different band and I've never heard them all together.. We'll see.

Would love a harpist or pianist too for a couple of hours whilst everyone arrives at the reception and speeches etc are done.

I wanted a popcorn cart or candyfloss machine but H2B said we're not having a circus theme lol Smiley sad

I want something for the kids, had thought about huge jenga and other wooden type games to fit in with vintage theme.. Not sure yet, might just say stuff it and get a bouncy castle.. Bucking bronco for adults would be cool Smiley laugh

We are having a brass quintet play at the church. Then we're having a band for the evening and a chocolate fountain.

We really wanted fireworks or those chinese lanterns, but our venue is close to a ptrol station so obviously these aren't allowed!!! Can't imagine why..........???!!

We're having a piper as the guests arrive, to pipe me down the aisle, and to pipe us into the reception. Then my uncle's girlfriend (who is an opera singer) is going to sing during the ceremony. Finally at night we are having a ceilidh/disco. Can't wait! ?

He comes round as a surprise and starts singing and dancing, presents me with some coal and a bottle of bubbly to the groom, then stays for some pictures. Thought it would be something fun after the meal x

I'm really hoping to have a ceilidh band - I want everyone up and dancing! I hope the guests will enjoy it or else it'll be just me Smiley winking

Other than that, maybe a string quartet for the ceremony bits.

I did want fireworks but they are so expensive for how long they last so that was my first disappointment really Smiley sad can't really justify the expense.
