Enthusiasm

Anne2015, 25 March, 2014 at 08:35 Posted on Planning 0 9

Does anyone else not have much Enthusiasm for their wedding planning? Mainly when I'm looking at dresses. All the dresses are just nice dresses, I'm not getting excited. I've tried some on and they are nice but that's it.

I'm struggling a bit. I think the fact that none of our friends or family are remotely interested isn't helping as I have no one to get excited with. OH is being brilliant but even he can't get enthusiastic about flowers and tiaras!

I haven't really been looking at much wedding stuff recently. We were trying to sort a photographer out. We've met one we like but there are 2 more I think we should meet first but I'm struggling to find time to see them. My OH works randomly so I never know where he is to arrange things.

Dresses - I just look through rails and I'm like "they are just dresses". I don't know where to look online and I'm not sure I'd buy one offline. Any thoughts?

Has anyone been to the outlet in Bolton?

I felt the same way, I was sooooo fed up of dress shopping, they all looked nice but that was it. Until FRiday when I found the one! So keep going you will get there.

Also I had decided that if I did not find a dress friday (after 5 brdal shops) I was going to leave it a few months and then go back, so you could give it a break for a while. Just know that when you find the dress, it will be exciting again...until then, turn up and try try try! xx

I agree with some of the others, take a break for a few days or a week or so, then get back into it.

I am yet to go dress shopping, but have been looking lots on the internet and pinterest. I have an image in my head of the dress I want, but the way I started looking on theinternet was to google bridal shops near me, and as they all list the different designers that they are stockists of I then googled the designers. At least this way when I start going to try dresses I'll at least know that there will be at least one dress there that I'm going to like!

I wasn't that excited about the dress bit either. In the end I bought two but in total I spent only £275 for both, so in the end I could spend more money on the things I was excited about, like a live band. The dress isn't everything, and you're never fully dressed without a smile, so find something that does float your boat and focus on that.

I always say to people to take a little break from planning if it's getting a bit boring, I usually find it helps to have time off from it but if you haven't been doing much lately then that won't help!

Maybe you just haven't came across the right dress? Is there any you've seen on anyone else and seen online that you've thought more than "it's just a dress" ? Maybe wedding dresses just aren't for you, not everyone likes them..you could maybe find an alternative style to suit your personality more?

Is there any styles you prefer like full length / tea length / strapless etc? If you get an idea of what you like and what suits you best you'll be better off going shopping as you can separate styles, sometimes they all look the same if you don't know what you're looking for.

This. My enthusiasm has varied a lot through the wedding process from quite excited to not very excited at all. Maybe if you are not feeling it then you should leave it for a bit?

Thanks everyone. When I think of the ceremony I just think how am I going to do it in front of people and seriously. lol. Our wedding is still ages away, not till June 2015 so I'm doing bits at a time. Trying to do one thing then move on. Just sorting photographer and starting to look at dresses. Maybe I'll get more excited as time goes on.
