Entrance song ideas?

ellebob, 23 October, 2012 at 22:03 Posted on Planning 0 38

I can't think of anything at all. We have had to pick so many songs already for different bits I'm out of ideas. I'm having a civil ceremony so any non-religious ideas would be appreciated!

    Nice signature ?

It depends from what time in music you want it. You will have different taste than your parents to name one example.

    So

A Time For Us - Andy Williams

All That I Am - Rob Thomas

These Are The Special Times - Shakira

Have you thought of maybe having an instrumental version of a song you like?

We're having the instrumental version of Turning Page by Sleeping at Last (the entrance song for Bella at her wedding in Twilight ?) as the music is amazing, but i'm not a huge fan of the lyrics or how they are sung.

To reflect our slighty 'way out there' characters & want for an unconventional wedding, we were going to have the Jaws theme tune for me to walk in on. Very appropriate!

But due to the quiet & loud pieces in the music, which may have made people jump, we have gone for a Star Wars piece. The darth Vader Imperial March. Also appropriate for my arrival! ?

We wanted something abit light hearted too so we wouldn't get emotional and cry.

    Haha, Jaws would be hilarious!

We've got quite mixed taste. As an example, my sister's singing Make You Feel My Love in the ceremony and the first dance song will by Baby I Love You by the Ramones, immediately followed by Bruno Mars Marry Me because we both love it but can't bring ourselves to have it at a serious point!

Not sure about instrumental because it's in a Register Office so the entrance isn't going to last for long, but I'm assuming they let the full song play? It might be a bit boring for everyone to have to sit and listen to a full instrumental piece after I've come in.

Exactly this. I really really really don't want to cry in front of everyone so I'm going to do all I can to avoid it, so we're having something really upbeat and not soppy - George Micheal's version of My Baby Just Cares For Me. Its really upbeat (and I lurve that George!), and quite short ending with a big fanfare, so I think its perfect!

Other considerations were Kaleidoscope Heart - Sarah Bareilles, Hoppipolla - Sigur Ros, Holocene - Bon Iver, or something by Beirut.

I'm hopefully having Magherecloon by Battlefield band. Its a scots v english theme. ( also having Whaur will we gang while they wait for me)

    Though friends have had

November rain intro, Bring your daughter to the slaughter, Iron Maiden, over the hills by Gary Moore, Don't Cry by Guns N Roses, Running up that Hill Kate Bush and Placebo.

I always wanted Bach's Toccatta and Fugue,

Classical wise - Entrance of the Queen of Sheba, Musical joke, Dance of the Knights from Romeo and Juliet, Moonlight Sonata by Beethovan

I'm cutting the song as there is a particular point in it where I want to enter. But as it's just an instrumental, it will be a doddle just to fade it out. So no need to be standing there uncomfortably waiting for the song to end!

We considered moonlight sonata because both me and OH love it but listened to it with this in mind and decided it just seemed too sombre, so we're back to the drawing board!

I have seen the star wars darth march done before, and it is great fun. Make sure that you do not tell your guests for a greater impact. But do give a heads up to your photographer so they can get those reactions of your guests. Also make sure that the music is faded out -- I have seen so many weddings where the person operating the music just stops it and it doesn't sound good.

We are having a church wedding and have had to choose lots of music/songs for different parts of the wedding. For me the first dance was the tricky one. Walking down the aisle we are having Canon in D by Pachabel. It is one of my most favourite pieces of classical music. It would work well for a civil ceremony too.

I love weddings like yours, and because you are doing this so early on in the day it does very much set the "feel" of the rest of the day

This sounds amazing! Will the groom be wearing a Darth Vader helmet?

For the wedding entrance, I have normally been asked to play more traditional music, and something a little more upbeat and fun for the exit. However, it can be done any way you like. Here are some suggestions, which I have played for the wedding entrance..

    Kissing You

    Pachelbel's Canon

    What a wonderful world

Can you feel the love tonight?

    Your Song

    Angels

    Better Together

It's a wonderful world would sound nice as instrumental.

I was thinking more upbeat but all I've got is God Only Knows (I think too religious) and Mr Blue Sky, which I think is a bit optimistic for a February wedding!

I don't know about different areas but here in Leicestershire and I'm pretty sure everywhere else too that the civil ceremony can not have any religious connotations which silly enough would include songs such as Angles.

Now I know that was always the case and I'm not sure if the rules have been relaxed but just a heads up if you are thinking of such songs as angles

We had a civil ceremony in a hotel and they didn't let the whole entrance music play. We had a saxophone version of Can You Feel The Love Tonight, and it cut off once I got to the end of the aisle, it was really lovely ? xxx

That is exactly what you need to do, also remember that the venue does this every week and they will have a very good idea.

Also quite often I see that the Bride and Dad are waiting behind the entrance door while the music starts and then make an entrance at a particular moment in the music.

And don't forget in your timings that the bridesmaids will be entering 1st

I went to a wedding the other day where the aisle was very short, they just faded the music out, funnily enough it was Chasing Cars Snow Patrol which I am having. I didn't even notice them fading it out as all eyes are on the bride.

I have gone over and over the music, it's really hard to choose something, the Vitamin String Quartet are good for popular songs.

I wanted to play Special Brew by Bad Manners after they announce you are now husband and wife but I have bottled out of it a bit. We may walk back up the aisle to Mr Blue Sky by ELO as it's pretty upbeat.

    Decisions, decisions...

I had "so amazing" by Luther Vandross played on piano. We didn't have to worry about timings as he could adapt it according to bridal entrance as it was played live.

We are having jack Johnson better together for our first dance. It means a lot to us as the first time i heard it OH was working away in Aus and told him to go any buy it as very appropriate .

3 weeks later I went out to him , but in them 3weeks had that song on repeat constantly lol!

This was six years ago , and since then we have always said this would be our song .

We had the (stay with me here!) instrumental version of the Wakey!wakey! Cover of Rhiannas We Found Love.

It did make me cry though and still does but it is beautiful and I love it!!

Going back to the instrumental idea. We're having an instrumental cover of Snow Patrol Chasing Cars (our song) played by some family friends on violin. We're also having a civil ceremony so it's a short aisle but as it's so gorgeous and our friends are working so hard to get it right we don't just want to cut it out half way through, so we plan on having it start and then a min in sending the bridal party down first, with me taking my sweet time to enter last lol.

The fabulous cannon by Pachelbel (sp?) played by a wonderful violinist called Simon Jordan (celebratewithmusic.co.uk) - he's then staying on through the reception playing the piano for us ... we get to choose the music (he may regret that, ha ha!)
