Erk - do you have a "type"?

Lillythepink, 11 February, 2009 at 16:34 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 79

Ummmm. OK, slightly wigged.

I am friends with someone on FB that I had a heeee-yoooooge crush on at school.

Someone at work has just pointed out that in his profile pic, he looks very like WTP.

Do your exes look similar? Do you have a "type" you go for? I hadn't realised it until now, but yes, I probably do.

Ooh dear, that's rather alarming when you notice such things, isn't it? makes you feel that you might be ever so slightly shallow. Well, that's how it makes me feel about myself ?

Yes, I definitely have a type. Not all my exes fit into the box, but a lot of them do. Generally:

    • 5'11" to 6'1"
    • thick, dark brown hair, straight or slightly wavy
    • slim to normal build, with long legs
    • blue or hazel eyes
    • olive skin
    • high cheekbones
    • longish face
    • slightly larger than average nose
    • wide mouth

See, I'm not picky, at all. Ahem.

    Absolutely not!

My mother remarks on it from time to time.

I really don't think I do, I'll stick a photo of my ex on your fb and let you decide. You can come back to report. ?

Not really. Not in looks anyway.

1st proper boyfriend - over a foot taller than me, long-ish face, quite muscular, heavy metal type, lots of hair, computer geek

2nd proper boyfriend - over a foot taller than me, gauntish face, skinny, v short ginger hair (we looked like brother and (short) sister), not heavy metal type at all, computer geek

3rd proper boyfriend - 3 inches taller than me. round face, fit and athletic type, computer geek ?

I think I do, yes. Tall - the taller the better - older than me and rugged. That just about covers it.

You do, too. Same sort of build, hairline and small noses.

There was a time when I'd have said the same. I'm getting less picky in my middle years though.

    Oh god yes!

The first thing that my Dad said on meeting SB was "Is he related to T?" T being my first boyfriend who I was with for 8 years... and looking at SB when he sleeps (not in a creepy way!) he does have the same mouth and chin.... almost identically in fact. I shall never tell him this though!

Ironically my ex-husband was nothing like either of them - maybe going for a type can sometimes be a safeguard?!

Yes I do but I don't avtively seek people that are my type, its just that they have ended up being fairly similar.

Every single one of my previous partners have been dark haired, thin and erm how do I put this diplomatically......ugly ?

Mr Nora is very attractive (to me anyway) but he is not typically handsome.

I like men with dark hair, blue or green eyes and northern accents. I don't like men who wear v-neck sweaters, fine knit cardigans, shoes with jeans or have receding chins. I like a good set of teeth on a man too, lol!

Yes! I can't help it, I just love big boys ?

When I met my H, I asked my housemate what she thought of him and she said "He's very 'your type'".

Oh yes - big & rugged, rugby-playing types. Probably as I'm a fairly muscular, well-built girl and in order to feel like I've got a masculine bloke he needs to be big.

H is nearly 6'4" - played rugby for wales schoolboys and universities. Very nicely built. Only think is he's blonde - I don't do blondes. Always gone for dark hair.

All of my ex boyfriends were skin head or closely shaven, tattoo, builder types, into football and drinking lager down the pub with the lads.

My husband has hair and isn't into sports or tattoos, but is a manual worker.

I don't think ex and WTP look much alike, apart from perhaps face shape!

I don't think so, I like someone taller than me, my ex was my height which meant he didn't like me wearing heels ? Mr G is skinny, tall and well perfect for me ? Although I do feel like an elephant next to him as his waist is less than mine.

I had a thing for ginger haired men when I was younger. Four (yes 4!) in total

I then moved on to the geeky look (glasses, tall, computer boffins) and married my H who is blond, 6' 4", glasses, computer boffin, AND he used to be ginger when he was a little boy. Perfect man in my eyes!

Oh yes. Over 6ft 2, dark hair, blue eyes, built like a rugby player...hold on! Looks like much competition on this thread. They are the nicest though, n'est-ce pas? I like the celtic look I must say. Pwoh!

Thinking about it, I do find bigger men more attractive, definitely rugby playing rugged types.

My ex played rugby but wussed out when he broke his pinky and never played again. ?

My cousin's husband could easily be a model, he's very fashionable, slim, tall, well groomed, good looking and many a girl's dream but he isn't my type at all. My cousin and him are a perfectly matched couple whereas I would pick a man in a rubgy shirt with a bit of stubble any day.

I always thought I liked tall, dark, brooding types like Daniel Day-Lewis but most of my exes look more like blond surfing types Brad Pitt.? MrB is resembles neither.

I think I like young Californian-looking men <oo-er> but more serious looking older men. That still doesn't explain why I ended up with someone who is very similar to Anthony Edwards, mind you.
