They are gunning for her! Whatever happened to free speech? It's a shame H keeps losing so many long standing members in favour of some occasional posters who keep complaining.

I replied with Deadwood forum, which is probably why it got deleted.

Just waiting for this to be deleted now!

I googled this and it looks like a kind of similar thing to Hitched, except I can't see any posts without creating a profile. What are the benefitsof DW over Hitched, or do people use both?

Threads don't get censored or deleted. Freedom of speech is the benefit

The major benefit is your post won't be deleted if it's remotely interesting.

If only people would actually read the rules they agreed to follow when they signed up, these sort of threads wouldn't be needed in the first place.

Stop wasting your time. Their forum, their rules, end of. "(Do not) question the judgments or actions of forum moderators. They are far too busy to enter into discussions or arguments. "

None of us are an indispensable part of this forum, so I'm not sure why "losing long time posters" is detrimental when there are plenty of people coming along every day to replace them.

Deadwood was started when Hitched was going through some server problems. There was a lot of downtime, and Mel created a temp forum for us to use when hitched was unavailable. Things here were getting slower and slower, and nothing seemed to be getting done, and we were getting no responses from Darren & co.

Then there was a big announcement thread from Darren "Important! Please read!". So after half an hour of trying to get the thread open, hoping it would be about the slowness of the forum, the inability to post half the time, the long periods of downtime, it turns out he is telling us off for swearing. So we flounced. In one mega-flounce. We all went to DW and stayed. And OT over here died for a while. Where posts wouldn't stay on the front page for an hour if no-one replied. post flounce there were posts on page one that were over a week old.

So that's what DW is ?

Me? [flutters eyelashes] but I'm all sweetness and light, me! Never done a thing wrong, I haven't. I mean, it's not like I taught OT-ers of old how to by-pass the swearing filter or anything! [whistles innocently]

That would be a very bad thing, FtG. You don't look like that sort of person, even your green fur screams innocence to me.

One of the Mods on DW, - yes, DW has mods has pointed out that this is not the case:

Threads most certainly do get deleted over here and people receive warnings for inappropriate behaviour. There are forum rules and certain self-imposed standards. The big difference here [DW] is that threads only get pulled with good reason

For some reason I can't fathom, the mod in q is no longer permitted to post here.
