There's a tale of two halves to this.

I got home from work today to see a little terrier running about and no one else on the street. I managed to coax him over to me and was able to see that he had a tag with his address and some phone numbers so I took him back to his house. The owners were out (they were looking for him) but then turned up after I'd rung them and were pleased so see him. Good deed done.

When I got home, H2B told me that one of his ferrets had escaped and has pretty much given up finding her again. H2B is gutted to say the least. She managed to escape from an outside run which we had used many time before for the ferrets but there was one tiny little gap that she managed to get through. I've put little signs up stating we've lost a ferret on some the telephone poles on our street. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she'll turn up and make H2B happy again.

Tell me about it, my daughters pony keeps escaping he goes over, under and through fencing and is now penned in with industrial fencing which believe it or not he has also managed to escape from once.

I am feeling quite sorry for him locked in all the time but the minute i let him out off he pops to French and Saunders evil twin ladies next door who get really cross (understandably)

I hope your ferret comes home

So sorry to hear your ferret is missing. Can the ferret get back into where it normally sleeps? If not leave a box and blanket in the garden and hopefully it'll be tucked up in it by morning. I've known ferrets to go missing for 3 weeks and turned up safe and well. Let the local vets know too.

I've got 3 of the blighters.Ferrets are swines for finding that tiny hole. Hope it comes home soon.

well done for taking the dog home.

noone, my old pony used to get out of his field and we couldn't work out how. One day he was seen rolling under the fence. Under that small section of fence the ground slightly dipped and he was rolling into the dip lol

The ferrets' main cage is in the shed and she's turned up in there after she had escaped once. There's an old cage in there which H2B has left open with one of their flannel blankets. I will contact the vets tomorrow. H2B should have called her Houdini.

After reading your replies, I never thought a pony would try and escape - shows how little I know!

We have a foster dog at the moment. I took him to college with Riley and I today and when we broke for lunch (I was training with him, someone else was training Riley) I put them back in the car to sleep for an hour. He was zipped into his soft crate in the boot section, Riley in her soft crate on the back seat. When I got back to the car he was sleeping on top of Riley's crate - having managed to unzip the roof of the soft crate. ?

Ainsley is world champion pony limbo dancer - I honestly have never seen anything like it. Jumps really high too so we are going to need to build a solid fence around our garden so I can keep an eye on him.

any news on your ferret? home she has had a nice stroll and is back where she should be

Noone,it used to wind me up when you see a field sectioned off with one line of white tape and stakes with the horses staying within the tape. No way would my pony stay within the tape lol

My old pony used to be terrible for escaping from her stable. When her previous owners had her she demolished (a not very sturdy) wooden stable. They found her hapily grazing in the field and the stable completely flattened - she must of kicked and shoved it so much that all four sides had collapsed.

I hope your ferret comes back safe and sound

    ? for the replies.

The ferret is safe and well but she's not with us - she's at an RSPCA centre somewhere. We had a man knock on our door last night after seeing our sign and said that she had wandered up the street, quite a distance from our house for a ferret, and got into his neighbour's bathroom through a pipe!!! (Don't even want to think about the type of pipe). The neighbour had phoned the RSPCA who picked her up. We phoned the RSPCA who said they had a match for a ferret but couldn't tell us where she is because it's not on the record. They logged on the file that we needed to be called today to find out where she is but there has been no call as yet. We will ring up again tonight to see if the record has been updated. Me thinks it's turning into a saga! The main thing is that she is safe and being cared for.
